I have a SHARP television and the sound and picture go off
Ron
A few minutes after I turn on the television. This happens every time I turn on the TV. I can restart the TV immediately after it goes off, but it only stays on a few minutes.

I have had exactly the same problem. Sounds daft but by not using the remote, and only using the power on/off switch on the TV itself, it is working perfectly...no idea why
Use the remore for changing programmes etc but not for on/off
Try it anyway because I know how annoying this is
sounds like you have a bad panel. This ussually happens when a backlight lamp has gone bad and the inverter board senses this and sends a signal to turn the backlight off.
does it tick all the time are just a few minutes and can you turn it off and back real qiuck and see or hear high voltage come on are see a flash is sounds like you have what is know as startup are shutdown circuit trouble

Aquos has the same problem. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but
when I lean the TV forward and hit the power button it will turn on
every time. If the screen blacks out and I don't lean it forward when I
hit the power button, the screen will just remain blank. It is very
weird, but at least repeatable.
- Thank you, Guest. That did it. It definitely seems to be a problem with the TV. Tilting it and hitting the power button helped me get the video back.
I have a sansui 19" LCD TV+DVD I had to attempt multiple times turning the TV on to get a picture. The sound was fine. This kept happening when I would go to turn on the set the TV kept playing fine with picture & sound but after the 2nd attemts I turned it off & then tried to turn it back on which took multiple attempts, it kept playing for a few minutes then the picture went out but the sound was still there. The set is not yet 2 years old.
