This might sound obvious but first of all I would try an older smaller flashdrive. Some large versions are not supported by certain keyboard. Try a simple midi file or similar with a smaller drive, if that works then it could either a procedural error in the way you are completing the task or that the larger drive is not supported.
Did the drive in question previously work?
What size drive are you using?
What are you trying to do? Save work, update software?
Good luck

Try going to http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/index.php. There, you can try to find your owners manual for free.

There is no need for a manual. It is so easy to operate because it is designed for easy opeating. If you need a manual to operate the PSR-510 then you really won't be able to operate it even after studying the manual. But here it is just in case you can by some miracle!

Yes. You will need to have a MIDI interface on your OC and also select in the sounds control panel of windows that you are using the external synth. The MIDI will expect the PSR to respond to the "general MIDI" assignments.
