Well don't flash it, did you know 90% of home users brick their device doing so (lack of training)
name one reason to do so? (it ran ok for 16 years so...)
even top OEM PC web sites tell that warning now.
for good reasons, the phone rings off the hook, how come my PCs is bricked, 100,000 of calls. yah think?
also HP does no support old PCs now, over 10 years old
Dell does but not HP.
the relic was made from 2003 to 2006
so is at most 17 years old, why not retire this pig, really.
move up to the 64bit world of safe computing, 2010 or newer PCs. best is one with CORE I3 to 7 processor
not core 2 nor DUO anything.
do so now and win.
the last bios update was 2006 F15 !
here is why not.

looks like HP is bringing old pages back to life with bugs !

seen here. (I've told them that Dell does why not you vast times)
but behold this.

Bios update for windows 7 {sp27726}

You should be able to restore it to an earlier time before you added the Bios update. I've read so many problems after bios updates, that I don't install mine when I get a notification of one available.

Usb ports for my hp compaq nc6000 does not function

The problem could be the USB port, but you can try to update the BIOS in the computer and the link is http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=367369&prodSeriesId=367367&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093#120

If this dont solve the problem you have to send the computer for a repair.

You may need to re-load the driver for the power/thermal or battery by flashing the BIOS.Check in your device manager to see if there is a red x on any of your devices, especially the power/battery.You may need to back up your data and recover the OS if the drivers are missing or go to hp.com and reload/update drivers from the downloads page.HP does offer tech support for free if computer is in warranty or will troubleshoot for a fee if out of warranty.1-800-474-6836

I can't find network and video drivers for my HP Compaq nc6000 running with xp sp3. Please help me. I've tried all the drivers found in hp website, but none of them works. Do you know any other link where...

Download your driver from the link below

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=367369&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=367367&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093

I am not sure what chipset you are using for your network card na dvideo adapter card.

If the download doesn't work, installed all the update including BIOS from the above link and check our again.Windows service pack 3 usually doesn't give problem on any other drivers installation except audio driver.

No usb

If your USB ports are installed correctly and enabled in BIOS, you will see Universal Bus Controller list in the the Device Manager. Double-click your USB in the Device Manager and a dialog box will appear. Click on the driver tab and update the driver. To get to Device Manager right-click on My Computer>click on Hardware>Device Manager. If your computer has a built-in USB device and does not detect the device through the Device Manager, confirm that the USB is enabled in the computers BIOS and that the BIOS supprts USB devices.

Nc6000

Have you tried attaching an external monitor and using the <FN> key with the F? key (mine is F5) to toggle between internal and external video?

If still nothing download latest Bios update and try to flash to that.(if you don't have a multi-bay floppy drive you may have to invest in a USB floppy.

or Try ebay for parts
