Question about Samsung Audio Players & Recorders
It sounds like a settings issue. Either on the receiver or TV or both. Check that they can pass Dolby signals. It probably won't work on PCM. Some receivers have the option for different sound on various settings. For example the one for TV could be switched off or on a different connection socket than the one you use. For example it might be on optical, or RF, or HDMI.

SOURCE: I have an Harman kardon
The Harman Kardon will play through the L/R only with the surround off. The AVR 310 is an older unit if I am thinking correctly. On the H&K's there should be a selection for 2 ch stereo, to 5 ch stereo, this will give you stereo sound through your speakers up to 5.1. It will not be surround sound. Otherwise check the levels of the speakers by pushing the (ch) on the receiver and then hit (set), you should be able to scroll with the <> buttond to all the different speakers.

SOURCE: My Harman Kardon receiver (
I used the live chat and the problem was resolved.
Usually the problem are strands of speaker wires which cause shorting and protection shuts off the receiver in order to prevent damage. There was one speaker that I repositioned recently which was causing shorting. I twisted the wires and tightened them in place and my receiver has been working w/o a glitch. I was lucky that I did not have to check all the wire strands on the receiver and all the speakers.
Problem solved and I learned valuable lesson.

BD and DVR hooked up to the receiver and from the receiver to the TV right? If yes: Your receiver set to pass sound trough to the TV, if you want sound from the home theater setting has to be changed.
