It happens, they dont last forever. I hope that you have backed it up so that you dont lose everything. You need to order a new drive and install it.

SOURCE: XP on HP Pavilion dv2000

First of all, this Notebook is installed with SATA Hard Drive and the drivers for the SATA Hard Drive will not be available with retail versions of Windows XP by default.
I recommend you to try using different OEM versions of XP to install in your Notebook which should work.
Since the Notebook is preinstalled with Windows Vista, the XP Drivers for this Notebook are not directly available from HP.
I had searched some for you which should work.
Download the Drivers one after the other and save them with the name along with the Softpaq Number like the example given below :
    Microsoft UAA_33566.exe
So that it will be easier for you to save them and identify.
Save the drivers in one location in the Notebook and double click them once the download is completed.
Make sure that you install the Microsoft UAA Drivers before installing the Audio or Modem Drivers.
Make sure that you install them in the same order I had provided them below :
You need to download the Intel Chipset Drivers for your Notebook from the link below :
    http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16023/a08/infinst_autol.exe

Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) drivers for High Definition audio :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33566.exe

    Conexant High Definition(HD) audio :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe

As the Notebook is installed with Intel graphic Card, you need to download the Drivers for the same from the link below :
    http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16944/a08/win2k_xp14363.exe

Download the Ricoh 5-in-one Card Reader Driver from the link below :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37712.exe

Download Intel PRO/Wireless Drivers from the below weblink:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34489.exe

As I am not sure whether your Notebook is installed with Intel or Realtek Ethernet card, I am providing both the drivers:
    Intel Ethernet Drivers :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33574.exe
    Realtek Ethernet Drivers :
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Realtek-RTLRTLRTLRTL-Driver--WHQL-Download-33009.html

You can also try downloading the Marvel Youcon Ethernet Drivers if any of the above provided drivers did not work :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL24713/gs-63707-1/Marvell_Yukon_LAN_Driver_6.36.0.0.exe

Downlaod Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem drivers from the below weblink :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33890.exe

Download the HP Quick Launch Buttons drives from the below weblink:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38688.exe

Download the HP Pavilion Webcam Driver from the below weblink:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33544.exe

Download the Alps Touchpad driver from the below weblink:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33751.exe

    Finger Print Reader Driver :
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32869.exe

    Hope these helps...

SOURCE: Hi!My laptop (HP G7000)can not

Your hard disk has indeed failed, this is not an indication of a spyware problem. Your best bet, if the laptop is under warranty, is to contact HP for a replacement hard drive.

If, however, your are out of warranty or would prefer to do it yourself, it appears your laptop has a 2.5" SATA hard drive. You don't need a huge one, your failed hard drive was probably between 80-160GB. Do not get a hard drive with a PATA/IDE interface, or a 3.5" hard drive, as these will neither work nor fit in your computer.

There are several screws on the bottom of your laptop. You will not likely need to remove the entire laptop case, and many times the bottom of the laptop is labeled with icons or a description of the component beneath the panel in question. When you replace the hard drive, pay attention to the orientation of the old hard drive, as well as where any different size screws were placed.

Finally, you will need to restore your computer with a set of disks. As you will be replacing your hard drive, any restore partition that was previously on your computer will have been lost.

Please let me know if you have any other questions related to this issue. Thanks!

The HP DV series are known for bad motherboards and yours sounds to have the symptom indicating a failed motherboard. You can try different ram and see if thats it or remove the hard drive and power it on and see if it shuts down without it.If it still shuts off its most likely the infamous DV series curse

Using the CD recovery discs ordered from HP on my Pavilion a14560n. Verified that is was the correct build. Does not recognize the supplemental recovery disc. HP sent me another set of discs, but I am...

Im sorry those did not come from HP, at all. prove it.!
what OS, I CAN NOT GUESS THE OPERATING SYSTEM.
    AND MATTERS.
wow that is a hard question, best is to ask HP, they designed, but id bet it was not HP disks , but from hackers sites, or?
I will not prove it is not real HP disks.

hp does not sell disks for any A series relic old retired PCs.
they DO NOT, so you did not posted your URL source of disk, wow.
here is the HP official page, did ever read this>?

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143

if you bought disks (gee no photo posted of disk labels you,)
from 3rd parties, ??? any thing is possible truly any thing,
    even a virus or worse.

tell me how any blind person on earth can read a text box and know what is in your hand (CD/DVD) we can not see it.
    so can be ANYTHING

first off I know for a fact HP does not sell disks this old
they do not. in fact the STEP 6 in the offical page above will FAIL
it will tell you (no PC found, its retired now, legacy zero support)
hard proof here. clearly listed RETIRED.
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/retired-products

so given that fact, what can you do.
easy, buy the ms w7 real disk and try that.
there are vast solutions, endless .here is a sort list
    1. upgrade the PC hardware to 2010 or never
    2. then up grade the OS to w7 or newer.
    3. or buy new PC.
    4. or buy windows 7 retail and hope it loads, ok, it will but some parts (chiPs) may be dead,(not supported now) see? but on many cases (ask) i we can upgrade functions, like VGA,Sound,LAN or WIFI easy and for cheap.
    5. last go to every scalpers on the net and find your unstated OS and try them all,, my guess is this is what you did not, and when it failed you fail to ask the scalper for the cure, only they know this, nobody else does. only them. i
is this XP, VISTA , W7,W8, W8.1 or w10 disks
surely you know at least that.

and they are not HP real disks
at the least they are cloned disks,
so only you can tell use what they do.... fail.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6500, and while I was working on my laptop it suddenly shut down by itself and restarted. When it rebooted, a message came up saying "Operating System not found". I...

Your hard drive may have failed.
I suggest you remove your hard drive and re-connect it to your laptop to make sure it is make proper connection. Boot up and go into the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected.
If the hard disk is not detected then most likely the hard disk has failed.
To get your laptop working, you will need to purchase a new hard disk and install Windows on the new hard disk plus the Pavilion device drivers and your programs,
You can download the device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP orVista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click onthis link to download the drivers: -

I have a presario v5102us and it won't always boot up. I can her a clicking in the cd rom and black screen

that clicking is more than liekly your hard drive and there is nothing you can do to prevent it from failing, back your data up and consider migrating to a new computer or ghosting your hard drive. BACK UP YOUR DATA. once it crashes that disk will be nearly inaccessible.

    -good luck-
