Fitbit's, unlike computers, laptops and such don't have an internal battery that maintains the "internal system settings or CMOS" when the power source that runs it is turned-off or unplugged. So, if the Fitbit is left uncharged and the battery (that runs it) discharges fully or drops to an unmaintainable state (too weak), you'll lose your internal settings. If it is allowed to remain in this state for an extended period of time, the battery can become "fully" discharged or "dead." This is why they normally arrive with a minimal charge from the manufacturer. One thing you can do that may "wake" your battery up is to fully charge it and quickly (asap) discharge it. Repeat this 3x and you "may" find it works. As far as the noon discharge of your steps go, this may be related to the internal clock thinking it's midnight in a 24h time period. That might be resolvable by choosing a 24h military time period if that option is available.

Connect it to a computer and set it up again. It has lost all the data in its memory. You must keep it charged.

Your fitbit needs to be switched off first, to reboot everything. then it will behave as if it,s just starting off, the settings should be easy to find that way
