SOURCE: do you have to remove the yoke to change the water

There is NO yoke. There is, however, a water pump pully attached with 4 10mm bolts which must be removed in order to access the water pump bolts (12mm). Bolts are threaded right hand (clockwise to tighten, and counter-clockwise to loosen).

Fan Clutch R&R With Confidence Using Griller....Glitter Tool

...ever found you self asking which way to turn a mechanical fan clutch's inline coupling nut to remove clutch-fan assembly (It) without mangling a thread or special wrench? Well then, consider the Griller...Glitter mnemonic system described below and never fail to be "thread-wise in the know."
If you know or can bump the starter to see which way the fan spins viewed from the radiator, then knowing any or all of the easy-to-remember devices below will let you get that clutch off, or on, with confidence. For instance, with a left thread clutch nut, the installed clutch-fan assembly will always spin right/clockwise.
Remember, you only need to remember the ones that are easy to remember.
    ·GRILR
    ·GOES RIGHT? IT LOOSENS RIGHT.
·If fan clutch spins right/CW, turn its nut right/CW to loosen.
    ·GRITL
    ·GOES RIGHT? IT TIGHTENS LEFT.
·If fan clutch spins right/CW, turn its nut left/CCW to tighten
    ·GLILL
    ·GOES LEFT? IT LOOSENS LEFT.
·If fan clutch spins left/CCW, turn its nut left/CCW to loosen.
    ·GLITR
    ·GOES LEFT? IT TIGHTENS RIGHT.
·If fan clutch spins left/CCW, turn its nut right/CW to tighten.

I bought champion spark plug compatable for john deere la105, but it doesnt seem to want to be threaded in

plug threads come in 3 different sizes
check your new plug against the old plug and check thread dia and length
if it is not the same , the plug selection is wrong
the other problem is
if the original plug was too long the carbon would be in the thread and on removing the plug , the thread in the head would have been destroyed as well
in that case you will need a plug thread inset installed before any plug will fit

Looking rearward towards front of engine from in front of radiator, which way, CW or CCW, does 87Ford Ranger2.9L crankshaft (fan & pump) turn?

fan clutches are Left hand thread as they tighten up when the engine is running. If they were right hand thread then when the fan is working they would come loose off the shaft
In short undoing then actually tightens them
