I'm confused !i have purchased a 2nd hand Sharp R-88BKM MICROWAVE OVEN but I don't understand all the cooking symbols on the dial , any help please

I was unable to locate a service repair manual specific to your microwave; sorry.

You'll must likely have to find a Sharp service and repair center.

This is the diagnostic check list Sharp recommends before calling for service:
SERVICE CALL CHECK
Please check the following before calling for service:
1. Does the display light up?
2. When the door is opened, does the oven lamp come on?
3. Place one cup of water (approx. 250 ml) in a glass measure in the oven and close the door securely. Oven
lamp should go off if door is closed properly. Press the INSTANT COOK/START pad once.
A. Does the oven lamp come on?
B. Does the cooling fan work?
(Put your hand over the rear ventilation openings.)
C. Does the turntable rotate?
(The turntable can rotate clockwise or counterclockwise. This is quite normal.)
D. After one minute, did an audible signal sound and COOK
indicator go off?
E. Is the water inside the oven hot?
If "NO" is the answer to any of the above questions, please check your wall socket and the fuse in your meter box.
If both the wall socket and the fuse are functioning properly, CONTACT YOUR NEAREST SERVICE CENTRE
APPROVED BY SHARP.

Could be arcing around HV transformer or even an HV wire, Sometimes an insulator on a capacitor will get old, dusty or breakdown and arc between the terminals. Have you ran this with the cover off to see if you can see any visual arcing??? If it cooks sure sounds like it is probably not the mag. Something supplying power to the mag arcing to ground I would expect.

Probably a bad bottom door switch or its mount. See help file here.

Please check the door safety interlock switches ...

If the switches are faulty, the oven thinks the door is open and will not turn on the heat ...

Find them indice hear the latch assembly.

This is a sure sign that the MAGNATRON unit has went out on your oven and will need replaced! (This is what cooks the food!)

Did someone spray cleaner directly on it, especially around the keypad area??

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

If not, then you might leave the door open overnight and see if that helps it dry out, then try the rest again and try cooking again.
