My Econar GeoSource 2000 GEO Thermal will shut down periodically. There are 3 lights that will come on when this occurs. Green, Yellow and Red, all at the same time.

When I remove and replace the breaker for the unit, it will come back on and run properly for a few days. The colder weather also seems to influence how long it will remain working before it stops then goes to Auxiliary or Emergency heat. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Door won't close, blinks 10 times, sensor light yellow

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem or the wiring to them. Nothing else causes this symptom.

SOURCE: SYLAVANIA green light blinks a few times and goes back to red

Funai used lousy wire going from the inverter board to the backlight tubes. Look for any wires that are touching each other. The insulation could have broke down between them and started arching. Get some heatshrink tubing to recover the damaged wires.

SOURCE: Refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling during a heat wave

Good day,
Turning the thermostat to a warmer setting should not have caused the machine to quit cooling. Actually, the engineers give you far less leeway than you might think.
The controls are more in a class of fine tuning, otherwise people would be getting themselves into trouble. The manufacturers simply design the warm and cold parameters in a fairly narrow range.
The best setting is normal. When away, the machine will run far less simply because of no door openings. Opening a door lets in large amounts of air every time it's done, which is where your cost to run it exists.
Two things. One, if the temp in the kitchen exceeded 90 degrees for any length of time, you are operating it beyond it's design range, however two, it sounds as if the thermostat hung up, causing your issue. You may want to have it replaced, but it would be useless to call anyone when it's performing normally.
There is no test on thermostats other than by observing their action when the machine is not operating properly.

SOURCE: I replaced the bulb on

Check the Lamp unit cover. The lamp unit cover is open.If the power indicator and lamp indicator both blinks red even when the lamp unit cover are securely installed, then remove the lamp out and refit it and again close the lamp door properly. If the lamp door is not getting close then red light will blink. And projector will turn off after few seconds or minutes.------ But if lamp unit door is properly closed and both lights are getting red and the unit shuts off. Then this indication is of faulty circuit board in the projector. The board is not letting the projector lamp to turn on and thats why the red lights comes on and projector shuts off.-------- that internal circuit board of the projector is short. You will have to check the tiny components on this board. In most of the cases, the faulty components can be easily located, because this components gets leaked or will look bit bulged up or will have burn mark on them. Once the faulty component is located, you can get the component from local electrical parts store or from online site like www.radioshack.com. But in some cases the whole board needs to be replaced. ---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH (YLOD) You need to strip your machine down to the motherboard and reflux and reflow the board.

I turn on machine green light then yellow light then blinking red light tried removing hard drive reinstall cleaned connections

The most common problem arises due to excessive heat which does two thing: 1. Dries out the thermal paste between the heat sinks and the Main processsor Engine and the Graphis Processing Unit (GPU). As a result the chips can overheat and be permanently damaged; or, poor/open solder joints become open. 2. Excessive heat and resulting thermal swings (cooling when off; and, heating up when playing for long periods of time) will often cause deterioration of the solder connecting all of the circuits and parts on the motherboard. You can send the unit in for repair to SONY for about $150 if you have not removed or disturbed the "Warranty Sticker" covering the screw to open the top of the Console.

TouTube also has many videos showing how the YLOD problem may be repaired. Kits are available to do this.
Go to YouTube and Search for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6qRLytwykE&list=FLzCJpCGwogzto74WlCEwSPw&index=39

and,

WARNING: Be very careful before you decide to repair this on your own. Once you break off the warranty seal, SONY will refuse to repair the unit for you. And, you will be entirely on your own and at the mercy of expensive repair shops, who will charge hundreds to do a simple repair. Why? Because this unit is very rare and in very high demand - even for broken units - which I could very easily repair with a purchased YLOD Repair Kit.

REF: From Wikipeadia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_light_of_death

"YLOD
(Yellow Light of Death) or ALOD (Amber Light of Death) is a non-specific fault indicator on the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) console. The fault in most cases occurs when the consumer attempts to turn the PS3 on. The console will display a green light followed by a brief yellow light before turning to red and shutting the console down. According to Sony the YLOD is a "non-specific fault indicator" that can occur when the console has an internal problem that requires service. Sony has denied that there is a design defect. As of September 2009, Sony has not publicly disclosed the failure rate of Playstation 3 units but has indicated that fewer than 0.5% of units "have been reported as failing in circumstances where the yellow indicator is illuminated." According to a BBC Watchdog report, independent electronics repair companies' have reported that a common cause is a fault in the solder connections within the console (dry joints) which is repaired by a solder reflow process."
SONY is notorious for obfuscation, covering these issues up, sweeping them under the carpet and providing misleading or no information.

If you go on eBay and search for "SONY PS3 CECHA01", you will see many old Broken YLOD systems for sale; and, you can also search used and repaired systems as well.

I hope this helps somewhat.

Good luck, Bob. :)

Need help to get my playstation working. tryed to

The Yellow Light of Death (YLoD) is a fatal error that occurs when your Playstation 3 (PS3) overheats.
The welds that connect vital components to the system board soften and break.
It's manifestation - a blinking yellow light on a PS3 that refuses to do anything else.
You have 2 options at this point:
  1. Return the unit to Sony.

if your PS3 is still under warranty, the fix will be free; otherwise, Sony will charge a flat fee of $150.

  2. Fix it yourself for less than $80.

This list contains the necessary tools and components to effect your PS3's meteoric rise from it's YLoDic grave as set forth in this free YLoD Repair Guide.

My ps3 starts to turn on for 1 second. Yellow light flashes, system shuts off, and red light blinks. Help?

HI, this is an emergency shut down, due to overheating. the yellow light is an indicator of a previous overheating issue that has damaged the power unit.

unplug the unit and, let it sit for 10 minutes to cool. after the cool off, plug the unit into the wall socket once more and, power up. if it continues to shut down and, flash the red light, this will confirm a major fault within the power unit. Contact Sony for the replacement of the power unit in this case.

***NOTE(If the unit begins to play normally after the cool-down period, you will need to purchase a cooling device to prevent future overheating issues).

Red light green light yellowlight red blinking light

From what I understand its a problem with the backwards compatibililty(the engine/drive that lets you play ps1/ps2 games)on the 60g.Sony says they have never heard of this problem yet these models are no longer in production.I have had mine for 2 years and it died today, same problem.

Flashing red light

"that scratchy noise" is indicative of a overheating RSX processor. when the thermal sensors under the processor of the PS3 are tripped, you get the green/red/yellow light sequence. I always tell customers its best to shut off the machine and fix the problem ASAP. if you continue to use the unit whilst overheating (if you get it to even turn on that is) you can possibly short circuit the solder joints of the BGA array and damage the uit forever. Not even SONY can fix it at this point unless the unit is reflowed, which renders the unit very unreliable anyway. reflowing rarely works for a long periods of time so SONY just replaces the unit for 150plustax with a refurb and you could wait for weeks. i usually apply thermal compound and add shims to ensure proper cooling of the two processors..the RSX and the CELL

Xerox 8200 will not boot

If it takes a long time to cycle, then shuts down. I suspect the drum heaters are defective.
Best way to find that out is, turn off yout room lights, then turn the machine on.
There is a fan exaust on the right side of the printer where there are sloted openings.
When you turn the machine, look in that fan slot and see if you see lights inside the printer. There should be a candesent type of glow you see about 20 seconds to a minute after you turn on the machine. Leave it on for a couple of minutes, but if you see no lights the heater or heaters are bad. They are standard 120 volt 150 watt halogen lamps. Tricky to change. But it can be done.
