Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

How far does the computer with the bootup process?
If you get nothing on the screen then it can be that the motherboard or RAM is bad (In which case try swapping out the RAM for new RAM). If it's the motherboard then I hope you have warranty, those aren't cheap or easy to fix.
If you get a "Media not found" or similar message then odds are the hard drive is either dead or the operating system is corrupt. That would need either a new hard drive or new installation of Windows. Reinstalling windows can be done by activating the recovery partition (if there is one) or using the recovery discs that may have come with the system. If the hard drive needs to be replaced then you'll have to figure out opening up the unit to get at it and then install the operating system using the recovery discs or a new retail version of windows.
Hope that helps :)

your HDD may be bad. I have had a number of HDD that appear fine in the BIOS but won't format either via the install disk or separately via a Linux boot disc.(You can somtimes hear them clicking on and off [seeking])
If you are mad keen on the drive, then D/L 'Hirens Boot Disc' and boot into the DOS mode (it also has a Mini XP mode).and use the HDD format utlity 'killdisk'. This will remove anything on the drive, format it and set it up ready for a fresh install.
If Hirens Boot Disk can't see the SATA drive then its stuffed.. for sure..
