It sounds like your computer is set up for the United Kingdom and not The United States....lol enough to drive ya crazy isn't it. Not to fear, this is how you change it.
Go to start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Now here we will take our time and go through all the tabs because there are different settings that have to be changed and when we are done, re-boot the system and you are all set. First tab to click on is "Regional Options" go to the bottom and change your location to "United States". Hit apply after each change, dont re-boot until we are done with all the changes. Now in the upper window, change the standards and formats to (english) United States. Now click on the language tab, on the settings tab, change the input to language to English-United States. In the installed services window below that make sure that english-United States is added and you can delete the United Kingdon if it is there. click apply and ok and you're done with that tab. Now move over to the advanced tab and select English (United States) and hit apply...do not worry about the window under that...code page conversion, just reboot and enjoy an American Keyboard. Good Luck, ParrotHead PC Repair
