Pls hvr 505 g laser leveling and spinning but not emitting a beam.Is this fixable?.

It could be a broken wire. If it's a new PLS model, then you can remove the back cover and genitally remove the core, and look to see if any of the thin wires are broken. if not the laser diode is burnt out. If you have an old model with the power button on the top of the unit, then don't open it, it wont close again.

PLS tools are not designed to be repaired. There was a time when PLS made replacement parts, however they changed from that business model and now when things break or go out of spec. they are replaced with an ETN (Equivalent to New) units. Either for free, if they are under warranty, or at a lower cost, if not. Bring your laser to a PLS retailer, and they should be able to take care of you.

one of the problems with this type of equipment is the fact that the down beam has to be set to a true plumb position. If it is possible to swing the head without disturbing the mounting you can check for circling - motion of the down beam in a circular pattern - which indicates off plumb placement.

The green LED on top is the power indicator. The PLS5 has 5 optic windows that should produce beams. Do Not look into the windows to see if there is a beam. Place your hand in front of each window. If there is no beam from any of the windows the unit is malfunctioning and requires service by an authorized service center. PLS states that there is NO service or repair that can be performed by the consumer beyond replacing the batteries and cleaning the optic windows This unit has a 1 year warranty from PLS.

The manual describes the procedure for checking level and plumb for the PLS180 but if you have determined that your units are out of calibration you are right to be concerned about opening the unit yourself. Please contact PLS at 1-800-601-4500 to find an authorized service center for your lasers.
If you cannot locate your manuals to check level and/or plumb I an attaching a link to the PLS180 manual as the methods for confirming level and plumb are quite detailed and should be followed exactly as described.

The E7-02 means the beam detect sensor never received a beam from the laser. As the previous poster stated you'll need a new laser unit. Meaning that you need to change the whole laser unit but not the polygon motor.

E7 02 Content Laser trouble
Detail BD signal from LSU is kept OFF, or ON.
Cause The connector of LSU or the harness in LSU
is disconnected or broken.
The polygon motor does not rotate normally.
The laser home position sensor in LSU is
shifted.

I don't believe that the unit has a spinning laser. Mirrors are used to split the beam into several beams that indicate plumb, level and righ angles

One thing, inertia is the property of mass to resist motion. You mean momentum keeps it going for a bout two second. Dont ask questions unless you get properties of motion correct
