SOURCE: TV won't change channels or adjust volume

Do you have a universal remote? If the batteries are taken out for a little period of time, the remote will loose the codes and they will have to be reset. You can find the codes by google universal remote codes.

If you have a factory remote that came with the television, than it may be faulty or the sensor on remote or tv may need to be cleaned.

SOURCE: Cannot access channel 73 on TV2

If you are unable to access the TV menu using the buttons on the TV itself it is possible you can with the TV2 remote if it still controls the volume etc. for this TV. If it doe not you will need to find a code for your set in the manual for the receiver or you can go to the following link to find that info as well.http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/receiver/625.shtml
Assuming you have control of the volume still press the small TV button on the top left of the remote. Now press the menu button and you may be able to access the TV's menu. If so you need to run a channel scan/auto program the TV. You may need to use the buttons on the TV still to maneuver through the menu.
If you are still unable to access the menu you may need to purchase a universal to access the menu.

SOURCE: echostar remote changes channels slow and changes

I would recommend swabbing the buttons with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. If this doesn't help I would reprogram the remote, the steps are below.
1.) Press menu twice, this should bring up the System info. screen.
2.) Press and hold the "SAT" button until all four mode buttons are lit at the top of the remote.
3.) Press any number on the keypad then press record 3 times.
If this has worked the remote address at the bottom of the screen will change. If the problem still persists you may need a new remote.

On mx900 genesis universal remote the up down arrows to change channels will not work - cannot get guide to display -cannot change channels using#key pad - volume up down work fine suggestions?

Incorrect code. Try different programming codes for one that operates your TV correctly. Note not all universal remotes will work all features of a tv. Sometimes all you can get (especially on lower end remotes) is power and volume

The humax remote formerly managed all functions with TV now won't turn TV on, when tv on won't change channels, show home, guide any functions, but will change volume.

If you have changed your TV, you'll need to change the TV code in the Humax remote. See the TV code list at the back of the Humax User Guide.

The error is likely to be from the satellite as the set model listed does not have that kind of error.

Have had dish for about 6 months with no problems today the remote stopped controling the receiver, it still wors ont he TV for volume and wwhat not but it wont change channels or pull up the guide. Looked...

It is possible that the remote simply needs to bere-addressed to your receiver. You can do this by pressing the 'System Info'button on your receiver (or access system info through the menu). Once thesystem info screen is pulled up, press the 'SAT' button on your remote once andthen press the 'Record' button. This should get your remote working with yourreceiver again.

Remote on tv 2 is not working, except to turn the tv on and off and volume. Menu or guide will not work.

velvia_w

Since the remote is not changing channels or bringing up your Program Guide, you will need to readdress the remote to your receiver. I have provided instructions on how to do this. Before readdressing the remote, you might check on the receiver if the antenna (on the back of the receiver) is secure and straight up and down, not at an angle. I hope this helps.

Remote: All Other Remotes
  1. Go to System Info screen
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

My brighthouse remote can turn my tv on and off but not change channels

The remotes have several device keys at the top of the remote. They have abbreviations like "VCR", "DVD", "TV", "CBL". By default some actions are locked into a specific key. By default, the volume buttons will always control the TV volume and the channel buttons will always change channels on a digital box.
If you have a digital box, and the channels wont change, the default locks might have been removed. Consult the instruction manual that came with the remote and re-lock the buttons to the correct device key. Otherwise you will need to press the "tv" button when trying to change volume and the "cbl" button when trying to change channels.
If you do NOT have a cable box and are just simply trying to use the universal remote as a primary remote, you will need to unlock the global channel lock. Consult the manual for the remote or check online for the remote guide. The Company which makes the remotes is called Universal Electronics and you can find digital copies of their manuals on the Brighthouse Websites.
