A bleach bottle cap fell into lint trap on the top of my dryer and is now behind the drum. it makes a terrible noise and smell of burning plastic if used now. how do i get it out ?
Re: bottle cap fell into lint trap behind the drum,
Take the top cover off the unit(after UNPLUGGING unit of course)screw location varies on units, some you need to remove front cover first to access screws for top

Have you ever had something fall down into the lint trap on your dryer? It`s happened to more folks than you ...
I'm sorry to hear that a sock fell into your lint screen chute and I would like to assist you. Be sure to unplug the dryer prior to servicing it! Do not run the dryer until you are able to remove the sock! There are two ways to do this.
I have something that fell into the lint trap and is under the drum! So when I turn it on I hear something hitting the drum scared it's a lighter and might blow! So how do I open to get to grab what's under the drum?
Can you see it? A trick I often use is to find some very sticky tape securely attached with the sticky side out on the end of a stick, and try to touch the lid with it and hopefully it will stick to the tape. On the plus side it probably won't do any harm just to leave it if you can't get it out.
Luckily, dryers are light. Best thing to do is pull it out until you can remove the back cover. (unplug it first) Then vacuum and clean all the dust and lint you can. This should be a yearly thing at least anyway. Replace the back plug it in and slid it back. I do mine every 6 months or so.
HI, You should remove it. Here is how

UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the two screws under the lint screen and pop the top up by inserting a flat blade screw driver in the gap between the front panel and the top. Remove the rear panel of the dryer and
locate the four 5/16" screws that hold the lint screen housing to the bulk head. Pull the lint screen housing away from the bulkhead and reach in to remove the item that fell.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you
further.
for the most if you want to clean it it will take you a while, depending on your model, disconect the unit from the power outlet first, from the back panel remove about 6- to 8 screws an then you will see the inside back panel expose to be vacumm, you'll see the back panel of the shoot that runs behind the dryer, take the i think 4-5 screws an vacumm it, i dont think is going to hurt your machine if a little fell in there, a quick way is try to remove the exhaust tube off the back an insert the vacumm cleaner, to clean the tube going out of the house you can use a strong shopvac, to **** it in or a leaf blower to push it out ...........good luck!
its not too hard to get out. you will need a #2 phillips screwdriver and or a 1/4" socket driver remove lint trap remove 2 screws at lint trap unplug unilt open the top (2 clips between lid and front panel in the crack, push them with a butter knife or putty knife to release top) opens like a hood pull out dryer and pull off rear panel on the left hand side there is a metal duct like thing lol that leads to the lint trap at the top. there should be 4 screws at the bottom where it gets round. remove them, and wiggle the duct open. your pen should be there..
I have a top loading Kenmore High capacity dryer that is over 10 years old, it has been working very well, unfortunately when cleaning the lint filter my wife dropped a piece of paper down the lint duct hole. The paper evidently fell to the bottom of the lint duct. I am unable to reach the paper from the top of the dryer where the lint filter is inserted. The dryer now makes a grinding type noise when it is turned on. Can you tell me how to reach the paper and remove it
