Player shutdown and then go to self check

My player is recording a program in 2 or more chapters, with erasing a program it goes out and starts self check. Sometimes the program is erased and sometimes not.
Sometimes when using time slip when recording, the recording stops and starts again after 1 minut.
Also the player stops by itself and everything goes on black.
Does anyone knows what is happening? When I disconnect the power it works well for a time and then it happens again. The repairman could not find anything. Thanks for every answer.

I would be looking at he power regulator ic and the 2 associated reference diodes in the power supply.
The diodes are surface mounts and a little fiddly. Parts about £15

Panasonic DMR-E55 gives frequently "SELF CHECK". Sometimes it working ok but when i try to erase some recordings he goes to SELF CHECK. The problem came very slowly. Is this a problem with the power...

in short "yes". the switching regulator IC (component found on heatsink "cooks" because the heatsink is not big enough).
start with checking power supply capacitors for bulging tops or electronic leakage (preferably using ESR meter) & fitting bigger heatsink. If problem persists then replace switching regulator IC

I taped 8 hours of programming in LP mode and want to burn it onto disc. Can I use the divide title mode to split the title into 3 segments so I can fit on 3 discs?

Yes, go into hdd list of recorded shows and select show
edit, chapter mark, find about 1/3 of show, select mark,
yes, back 1 menu under chapter mark is split or cut,
just select and you now have 2 files, 1/3 of show and 1 2/3 of show, just repeat, for 3 parts. and burn to dvd.

How can i fast forward on an audio book

there's no function for this on mp3 players.if you know you're going to want to do this frequently when you're reading the book it would be better to download it in chapters and then you could at least jump from one chapter to another without listening to the whole thing each time. You could record chapters or the whole thing onto Audacity ( A free sound recording program) and break it up into smaller sections. This is a lot of messing about and you'd probably be better off trying to find the book as an ebook and just search out the relevant bit that you'd missed and read it instead. I think it would be a great step forward if mp3 players were able to do this. The only equipment I know of that can do this(other than a media player on a pc) is on some digital radios where you can pause and do a rewind to the bit you want but this is usually only over a short period (5 mins for example on the Roberts digital radio.

Cannot go back to default greeting message

According to the Operating Instructions for this machine, chapter 7.1.1. says that by erasing your recorded message, the machine should be set to play the pre-recorded greeting message again. And I guess you can then go on and try to record a new message, hopefully it will be more successful this time. I don't have this machine myself, but I wish you good luck!

Stiletto 2 deletes recordings

I'm a relatively new subscriber, only having my stiletto2 for 3 months. It just started "not recording" and "deleting my recordings". In researching, I came to this thread. Since no one really seems to have posted a real solution here, I'll share what I've found elsewhere.

1.) Check to make sure your SL2 has the latest software (ZAP). To find out what version you have, navigate to Settings >> Device >> Device Info. If your software is not up-to-date simply connect your radio to Internet Radio for about an hour and it will be downloaded. You will get a notice on your screen when the update is complete.
2.) Perform a Full Shutdown of your SL2 at least once a month by holding the power button down for 10 seconds. If you do a lot of recordings it's advised to perform a shutdown weekly or more for best results. This will flush the system, clean up and remove old and expired recordings/replays and reduce general screen lag. For some this simple step has eliminated missing recordings all together.
3.) Do not use your SL2 as an archive device and try to avoid using your internal memory over 50% for the time being. If you do a lot of recordings it's also advised to disable Radio Replays.

If 1-2-3 don't work, try 4
4) Set and Erase
4a. go into your Settings Menu>>Device>>Reset & Erase.
4b. As soon as you complete the process (Reset & Erase) and have rebooted, you will need to connect to Wi-Fi again to again download the baseband update. Let it run for at least 30 minutes to ensure that it is able to get the entire update. Then tune to Satellite Radio it SHOULD complete the baseband update.
4c. You should see the Updating SIRIUS message for about 7 minutes. If it's only up for a minute or two, then it may bet hat the update failed again. You can check the Service Info screen to be sure.
4d. If you then shutdown your SL2 (by holding down the power switch for 5 seconds) then turn it back on, it should complete the baseband update process.
