You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You do not have to bend up the electrode.

Place a business or index card between the fly wheel and coil, rotate until the magnetic attraction pulls everything tight together. Tighten the coil screws, rotate the flywheel until the attraction eases and remove the card. Ensure nothing contacts when flywheel is rotated.

Yes, go to auto parts, and tell them you need a spark plug hole repair kit, very easy to install, just follow the directions.

Trying to install a new spark plug in Craftsman (push behind) lawn mower, but it will not tighten. The spark plug is the correct part no. for the lawn mower. Suggestions/solutions appreciated!

If the plug will not tighten, and it is the correct plug, then unfortunately the thread has pulled out, it is now a new cylinder head, or a heli coil to repair the pulled thread, you can buy 14mm heli coil kits to do it yourself, however if you have never done one, then its a job for the local dealer, or engineer.

How do I find a parts manual for a Stihl MS290 ?

I really don't want to be "that guy", but people who aren't trained STIHL mechanics or at LEAST mechanically trained, shouldn't work on higher end saws like STIHL, because people with a little bit of experience can mess something up, then blame the machine because they mess something up and start trashing the brand when it's their fault for not knowing what they're doing.

Spark plug cylinder stripped

This can be repaired with a heli coil ( thread insert ) they are normally a short 14mm thread, an good chain saw/engineering shop will do this for you, or you can purchase your own kit and do it, but this will be expensive if you are only doing one

A good machine shop will fit a 14mm heli coil into the torn threads, this will make it as good as new, in most cases stronger than the original thread.
