How do I take toll saver off my Vetech phone - Vtech Lands Phones

Toll Saver is the most confusing option with little or no information about it anywhere.

It overrerides the number of rings settings so that the answering voice mail cuts in after 4 rings or 3 if there are new messages. If you want to set rings to 6 or 7 or more, or have a consistent number of rings before voice mail cuts in, you have to turn off "Toll Saver".

From Telus:

Turn on "Toll Saver": *97 and hang up.

Turn off "Toll Saver": *96 and hang up.

Toll Saver is a feature that changes when the phone answers if you have voice mail messages. If you have no messages, the phone answers after the 4th ring. If you have messages it answers after the 2nd.

If you call in and you hear a 3rd ring, hang up.

Press.MENU/SELECT > Ans. Setup menu > Ring Time submenu
Select a Ring time - Toll Saver, 2, 4 or 6 rings. Press MENU/SELECT once again to get a confirmation tone. The Toll saver setting is for if you are checking voicemail on a Long distance call, the call rolls over to the voicemail immediately if there are new messages

To hear your messages when away, you call you number and wait for the machine to answee (welcome message). When invited to leave message, enter your code and listen to instructions. One menu item will ceratinly enable you to hear your messages. If you call often your phone long distance, you might find it intersting to activate toll saver option: With toll saver phone answers after 2 rings if there are new messages. If it does not answer after 2 rings there are no new messages and you hang up with no communication fees to pay.

Toll saver does not work. Ring count set to 4 rings

"2 rings" or "4 rings" (the default) are not "toll saver". You need to set the ring count to “toll saver”.

On the handset
1) Press Menu
2) Scroll down to Answering Device then press menu
3) Scroll down to Settings press menu
4) Scroll down to Ring Count press menu
5) Scroll up to “toll saver” and then press menu

Phone ringer

The box underneath the setup in the manual (mine's on page 13) describes what TOLL does. It can answer on the 3rd ring, the 5th ring, or if you have messages it will answer on the 3rd ring and not until the 5th ring if you don't.

You can hang up after 3 rings if the machine doesn't answer, because you have no messages. Other manufacturers call it TOLL SAVER.

Number of rings before recording answers

Choose how many times the line will
RINGS IS...” ring before the system answers a call.
• Set for 2 to 7 rings, or choose
Toll Saver 2/4 or Toll Saver 4/6.
• When set to Toll Saver 2/4, the system
