This unit needs a Optical block replaced.
I would get in touch with Sony at 1-800-222-SONY and inquier about a possible exstended warrenty replacement. Some of the models that have had this issue have had the exstended warrenty exspire but I think this model still quailifies. A Sony Auth. Repair facility will need to do the repair. Sony should be able to help you in locating one in you area. Trust me, you do not want to pay the price of the Optical block. It run aprox 1200.00
plus labor. Lean on Sony but be nice. A little sugar make the world go round.
Good luck,

the light polarizer on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excesive dust and heat, and therefore need to be replaced. unfortunately, zenith may not sell individual parts of the optical engine, so you'll have to replace the whole optical engine.
