Probably not! Sounds like something was damaged besides the plug. Clicking could be a tooth on the gear was damaged and now slips. The way I repair or determine what's wrong with locks is to take them off and start by manually operating the strike and then check / test the rest of the lock as I assemble it back to the door. If the gear is damaged, you should be able to see that once the lock is disassembled. Cross your fingers you find some debris in the lock and thats all....
I think your locksmith did something wrong. I had a similar problem about 3 years ago. There is no need in expensive operations or something. Just find a good locksmith (I was in Dublin and called these guys:https://www.locksmiths365.ie/ , find something similar) and ordered a new smart lock. That will cost you something like £50. Yeah, some guys here propose "cheaper" options, but, you know, cheap isn't always good. These guys can be trusted. They do their job real quick and fine. 3 years passed and I didn't have any problems with my lock.

This is a common problem on Dodge trucks. The noise is the sound of a small plastic gear that is stripped. The only solution is to replace the lock actuator.

OK. Here goes; look at the ground wire on any utility pole. Go to Home Depot, Lowe's or the like and purchase a 4 foot peice of wire like the ground wire (steel not copper). Bend one end 90 degrees at about 6 inches of length. Then bend a slow curve in the entire length of the wire. Purchase 2 rubber door stops. Grasp the top right edge of your car door and gently pull outward. Insert a door stop. Place the other door stop at the top of the door and lightly hit it with the heel of your hand. What you are doing is opening the door JUST ENOUGH to insert the wire without damaging the weather stripping. Now use the wire to either pull the door handle or pull the lock to the open position.
