SOURCE: lens does not come out
The casio uses a series of roataing wheels to assist the lense going in and out. It sounds like one or more of those wheels is jammed or broken. You can take the camera apart on your own but it's a matter of how careful you are pulling it apart and putting it back together. Also, if you do decide to tear it apart on your own, make sure to keep your hands and fingers away from the circuit board. Oils from your hands have been known to cause cameras to read faulty. If you to take it apart, you'll more than likely have to take off the LCD screen and the bracket behind it to get the the lense. Be gentle.

Has the camera been dropped?
If so this may have distorted the rear cover, causing some of the mode functions to not work correctly like play back and delete features. if the mode functions all work ok and the camera can display a live image (as when you normally take a picture) it may be a card error and it may need replacing or formatting (formatting the card will erase all pictues so make sure you back up what you want to keep before you formating).
I hope this has help.

I have a Power Shot A580 that had the same lens problem: lens wouldn't retract causing a lens fault.
