Is master plumber 54006 1/6 hp utility pump have automatic shut off and restart or do I have to unplug? bought used with no manual

You should be able to find out what make etc at Home Depot or just take it back and complain to a supervisor and ask for a replacement or refund etc.

Get the motor fixed! or replace the pump. The best solution is replace it.

Assuming that your pump has a built in float switch, I would suggest that the float switch is frozen, stuck or damaged. If you have an underwater pump that does not have such a switch then it probably is designed to only be used manually. I have a little giant pump which is designed to go underwater but must be plugged in to use and unplugged to stop. I'm assuming you have had this pump a while and in the past has always worked automatically. Again , if yours is automatic, it's the switch. Unless it's a simple thing like a frozen arm, I doubt you can fix it unless you can replace the entire waterproof assembly without tearing into it. It must remain waterproof to be electrically safe.
You may find that only a factory repair will be the proper solution.

Either the float is stuck or the float went bad...
give it a kick and make sure the float has dropped down and is not hung up...
If that don't work then unplug it and replace the float switch...

try shutting it down and restarting the computer shut it down for about 5-10 minutes then restart it when u shut it off unplug the keyboard and just before you restart the computer plug in the keyboard

Your problem is: water does not drain out

If the motor runs but it won't empty then the pump needs replacement. If the unit washes but the motor won't come on to empty then you have a control problem. The pump is under and requires removing the d/w. The control is in the top of the door. You might consider utilizing the Repair Directory to find a repair man. If the d/w has some years on it you may compare the costs of repair verses replacement.
