Machine cut out during use. Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system thatstops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the machine or tools are blocked. If your machine cuts out, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down.
Dyson vacuums purchased in other markets may not include a fuse within the plug. However, most Dyson vacuums are protected by a thermostat engineered to shut the machine off for protection if it starts to overheat. ... The vacuum shouldreset automatically after it's had at least 1-2 hours to cool down.

SOURCE: today i was hoovering, and then my dyson just cut

It looks like you need a professional repair. If you're really lucky this may just be a break in the flex, or the switch has failed - both relatively cheap and simple to sort out. More likely, though, is a problem with the motor (carbon brushes worn out perhaps) - bound to be more expensive, if only because there's more labour involved.
Sorry not to be able to offer a quick fix!

I have received new power head on my dyson dc29 but it is not working what do I do to install it right

If your power head is electric you likely have an electrical problem you will need to trace, if it is an air driven turbo nozzle your airflow may be restricted. The filters may need replaced.

How do I repair a DC29 motor

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If you're having difficulty with your DC29 I would encourage you to contact us directly to discuss this. If a repair is needed we can confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty - outside the warranty period, we can also look into alternative options. Please be aware that attempting to repair the motor yourself could void any remaining warranty cover.

You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

The rotating brushes on my floor setting keep stopping on carpet - even though nothing is clogging it. I have to turn my vacuum off and then back on to get it to start spinning again.

There are two things that cause this.

1) The suction is not good and is not making the turbine head run. Clean the filters/ head and check the hose for blockages

2) The Turbo head has more friction than it should. Remove the brushes from the turbo head and remove all hair etc from the bearings with tweezers.

If it still does not work the the most common problem is the bearing retainer in the turbo head has heated up and come loose. This is a very hard repair I do but for most they should buy a new turbo-head.

How do you take apart a dc29

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

We'd advise against dismantling your DC29 any further than is shown in the User guide, as this could invalidate your Dyson warranty.

If you think your machine is in need of a repair, or doesn't seem to be working correctly, we're happy to offer further advice. If a repair or replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is likely to be covered under our 5-year parts and labour guarantee.

When you have your machine to hand, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
