You have 4 wires coming from the needle pickup to the cables which connect to the amplifier/receiver. I would check the needle, the pickup unit, and the leads from the pickup to the cables. You can probably run a continuity test or ohm test for verification. If that checks, pickup and needle is your next step.

SOURCE: TECHNICS SL-B280 DUST COVER W/ HINGES

All parts are discontinued for this model. The SL1200MK2 dust cover will not fit this turntable. You can actually have a dust cover made rather simply and cheaply (depending on where you live). Just take the dimensions to a PLEXIGLASS or even a GLASS shop. You can even purchase the Plexiglass yourself, cut it, and glue it together. I would suggest getting it professionally done. You can use any high impact plexiglass. Get something that is resistant to scratches and discoloring.

SOURCE: How do I change belt on a Technics linear SL -H350 turntable

http://www.archive.org/details/Turntable_Belt_Installation

above video should help. if your platter is "stuck" then call them for tips. also make sure it does NOT say "direct drive" on the front of the unit.

presuming you are talking about the SL-H350 as in the body not the SL-DZ1200 as in the title

Technics SL-1210: I'm getting tons of feedback from my mixer when the Red (Right) RCA is plugged in?

Remove the red and it goes quiet? Put the red into the left channel, what happens? Put the left plug into the right right socket, what happens? Put everything back to the feedback, power off and remove the turntable cartridge, what happens?

This proves whether it is the cable or the internal electronics of the amp, or the wiring further up to the stylus cartridge.

you are the only one with the issue

Technics SL-D33 Channel drop.

There's nothing wrong with the turntable then. It's your receiver that's the problem. In order to hear a magnetic cartridge it has to go via a pre-amp. It's this pre-amp that has failed in your receiver. It's only used by a turntable so wouldn't affect anything else. You should be able to trace this pre-amp by following the turntable socket wires. It will probably be a small IC that has failed. If you look up the number you should find it.

Left channel suddenly gone quiet, left channel works perfectly.

Hi, firstly switch the output rcas over on your amp/mixer and see if the problem stays in the left channel or has now gone to the right. If it stays in the left it is a problem with your amp/mixer. If it moves to the right the problem is in the turntable. Likely causes for turntable problems are cartridge being damaged or stylus damage. If you have another cartridge try that. Cheers john

Left channel not producing any sound, right side works perfectly

Disconnect the wires to the cartridge. With the amp on. Touch each wire (one at a time) with your finger. Two of the wires should buzz (1 left, 1 right) if the left doesn't buzz either the connections are faulty or the pre-amp in your amp is.
If you get a buzz on the left, replace the cartridge.

Poor sound quality from a technics SL-D210

Generally either a faulty connection to a lead or cartridge. Or a faulty Cartridge. If you switch the left and right channels of the phono leads the missing sound should move to the left and the right come to life. If it does not then there's a fault in the magnetic cartridge pre-amp in your amp.

hi,
Here is the wiring of the turntable RCA plug ( RCA wire will have 4 connections like red and its outer wire then White and its outer wire.). connect these as follows.

For right channel

Red wire from the turntable to the red center wire of the RCA plug

Green wire from the turntable to the outer wire with red wire of the RCA plug

For left channel

White wire from the turntable to the white center wire of the RCA plug

Blue wire from the turntable to the outer wire with White wire of the RCA plug

Need aground cable

The ground cable is usually a part of the audio cable. A red lead(right channel) and white lead(left channel) and a black lead. If there is no black lead, you can connect any wire to the metal portion of the turntable and the ground lead on your receiver. As a test, switch the right and left RCA cables from the turntable to the amp. If the problem reverses, the issue is in the turntable or with the cables. If it stays the same, its a problem with the amp.
