E21 is error for water not draining fast enough.
Remove lower front panel and place cookie sheet pan under water pump to catch water in drain hose and clean out lint filter by unscrewing large plastic wing-nut. If your model doesn’t have filter remove the large accordion black boot from washer drum that goes to water pump. Inside the boot you will find a plastic strainer most likely clogged with change, lint, small sock or other foreign matter. If empty, water pump has a flapper that should be checked for obstruction. Often the pump’s impeller will fail or the bearings will fail requiring the pump’s replacement which is easy, self explanatory and inexpensive. Unlikely but a small chance that the pressure switch hose (small hose from tub going up to the switch near top of washer) is clogged with lint. Disconnect from switch by pulling straight off and blow through hose to verify it being clear of any obstruction. Make sure drain hose isn’t kinked anywhere.
The machine is reporting that it believes there is water remaining in the tub when it should be empty.
These machines generally have a drain trap to capture buttons, washer, screws, etc. Servicing the drain trap usually involves removing a cover panel. Check the directions for specific model. Be prepared to capture any/all water so as not have it all over the floor.
If the trap is clean, then it will be necessary to identify whether or not it is draining. This can be done by observation of the water volume during the drain cycle... something a repairman should be able to do.
If slow or insufficient volume, then its a real E21 error and the cause will need to be determined; blockage at pump, failing pump, blocked drain etc.
Otherwise, this is a false E21 and likely there's a malfunction in the water level sense... that being either the sensor itself, interconnecting tubing is plugged/fractured, or the control board.

I have an Electrolux front loading washer. I just got done washing a load of laundry and the door will not unlock. I tried washing it for a second time thinking maybe it would open again. No luck.

You do not need to clean a drain pump. After you have washes so many loads of clothes, soap scum builds up in your tub and will shorten the life of your product. You just need to run it thru the "clean" cycle. You can use 1/2 cup of bleach and NO detergent or you can by a tub cleaner from most grocery stores or Walmart and use that. It'll just remove any soap scum and mineral build-up off your tub. It should be done each time you washer tells you to do it. Hope this helps. :)

Hello there and welcome to fixya
From what you're describing it sounds like the drain pump is blocked.
The nd error code indicates "no drain". If the unit can't drain it won't
spin. You're going to have to slide the washer out far enough to remove
the rear panel; be careful not to damage the floor. Once you get the
rear panel off you will see the pump. Be sure to have plenty of towels
& a small container to catch water. I am sending you instructions
from the service manual to remove and replace the pump. Another
possibility is the drain line is blocked or something is stuck in the
tub to pump hose.
Thank you for your inquiry, Sarah!
I see that your Electrolux washer will not go past sensing mode. This sounds like a possible issue with your sensor or door latch and I would recommend performing a reset on your washer to help clear out any miscommunications. You can reset your washer by disconnecting the power cord for roughly ten minutes.
I would check your door latch and door strike for any physical damage that could halt the progress of your washer. If you continue to have issues with your washer I would suggest having a professional out to perform a proper diagnosis and repair. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt
