Right click on desktop, choose properties from the pop up menu, in display properties choose the settings tab and set the resolution using the slider to 1920×1080 which is your monitors optimum resolution.

Screen is milky white from the middle down

That is not good, the LCD screen panel will need to be replaced, however to do this would not be cost effective, cheaper to replace the whole monitor.

Desktop icons stretched horizontally

Sounds like you need to set the screen resolution for the monitor. The computer should recognize each screen individually in the desktop options dialog. If it doesn't recognize the two different screens, you may want to change the resolution when you plug in the monitor.

I hooked up a vx2433wm monitor to a dell computer, and I can't get the sound to work. Any thoughts?

this monitor has a separate audio in cable that must be connected on the green audio in socket at the back of your computer to the back of your monitor. this is usually a thinner cable as compared the the thick cable which goes to the video card for video.

Screen cuts off image

To see the button on the right hand side of this monitor you will need to shine a really bright light on it, but the buttons from top to bottom are: 1, up-arrrow, down-arrow, and 2.

  1. On the side of the monitor press the 1 button to activate the menu.
  2. A configuration menu for the monitor will appear; from that menu highlight the "Input Select" menu item using the up and down buttons on the monitor; when you have the item high-lighted, press the 2 key.
  3. A new menu will appear, and then you can select the menu item called HDMI on the left and PC waaay over on the right. Select this menu item with the up and down arrows and when it is selected,
  4. And press 2 like you did in the previous step.
Apparently there's some sort of a strange difference between using this monitor as a "video monitor" and using it with a computer.

Monitor stretches the images. How is it possible?

you might just need to touch the resolution or else check if the monitor has right settings from its inbuilt menu.

Go into the monitors menu, go down to "Image Settings", go to "HDMI Mode", select "PC Mode"

Hope this fixes it for you. It worked for me.

Acer P193W monitor stretched image

What service pack of windows xp are you running? Also, do you have your old monitor, if so, then plug it in and see if the same problem occurs. If not , go under the settings for your graphics card (not windows display options) and see if there can be a correction made to the settings for your monitor. Also, try going to microsoft.com and updating your computer (it's free) and you'll probably get the required driver to fix the problem from them. Check under your control panel and see if you have automatic updates turned on, if so you may want to limit what updates are to be installed by allowing updates but you choose which one's to install. Hope I could help. My e-mail

Display appearing stretched

the original image size was probably recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio...meaning your widescreen is a 16:9 ratio size screen and is stretching it outwards to fill the whole screen. If you want the image to look normal.. ie. not short and fat people.... you need to change the picture size in the settings from widescreen 16:9 to normal 4:3 tv in the settings menu most likely...Also most remotes will/should have a button for that.
