How to hack a Toshiba blue ray player BDX1500KB

i fixed this exactly as previous posted solutions, however a couple of points.
a) recordable CDs work if you don't have a DVD burner.
b) I didn't have a CD burner that would do an "image burn", I downloaded a free copy of "Express Burn" and that worked fine. The disk needs to be "finalised" or "fixated", it should do this automatically, or it may be a tick box selection.
c) I got a "No DWLD 09" when I put the disk into the player. I found this was an incompatibility with the CD-R (Maxwell) I was using. I changed to JVC and it worked fine.

This indicates a problem with the pickup head. First I would suggest cleaning the laser head with a disk made for that purpose. If this does not work, then I would suggest (if you have a background in electronics) taking the cover off and checking the bias voltages on the laser pick head (comparring them to the schematic values). What I believe is happening is just a dust problem, however if it is a circuitry problem, contact the manufacture or use the schematic/service manual to locat OEM parts.

I would, however try to clean the pickup head first.

If none of the codes work please try the code search feature of your remote.

Searching for Component Codes

If you cannot ?nd the manufacturer in the component list or the program code does not work, you can use the remote control to search for the correct component code.

To search for a component code:

1. Turn on the component.

2. Press the matching component button on the remote control (DVD, AUDIO, CABLE, or TV).

3. Press and hold the SET button until the LED ?ashes twice.

4. Press 9 9 1. The LED ?ashes twice.

5. Point the remote control at the component and then press and hold the POWER button until the component turns off.

Release the POWER button.

If the component does not respond correctly, repeat the search procedure to ?nd
another code.

Even thought the remote is a "universal remote" it is not perfect and will not work with every device out there, the remote contains a limited number of programmed codes in its memory and new codes to such a remote can not be added. So there is absolutely no guarantee that the remote would work with every device and the newest devices.

If you where to consider another remote I would recommend Logitech Harmony remotes which can be connected to a computer and have new codes loaded.
