Bad switch
You need a new switch installed. Take it to your local vac shop. They can fix it

I just had this same problem tonight. As I was looking on this sight to find a solution, my husband fixed it. First he removed the extended handle part, then he took the 2 screws out behind the power switch and removed the front cover (directly underneath the power button). He then removed the plastic power switch cover and took the power leads off the switch and removed the switch and tapped on it, then the little button stuck in place:) Sounds silly but it worked! I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
This my new year resolution is to warn people not to buy Dyson vacuum cleaner ( Junk) design to break down! Shame on you Dyson!!!! Save your money find good old vacuum cleaner with metal parts.

What do you want to reset? Do you mean the motor has stopped working? There is no "reset button". The motor has an automatic cut-out, which will operate if the motor gets too hot and will reset itself when it cools. If the motor will not work when it's cool, then you have an electrical problem which will probably need professional attention.

Apparent common failure is that either the thin yellow and or blue motor drive wires that run from the LH side of the vacuum where the "control board" is located down into the hinge / ball area become stretched and then fray and eventually break. Happened to my Dyson twice. First repaired under warranty, second took about 20 minutes. You need a Torx screwdriver to remove the LH panel ( 4 screws) and also an access panel (2 screws) at the side of the ball which permits access to the blue / yellow wire connectors. I replaced with a new wire and connectors having fed the wires through the access hole making sure sure enough wire was available for the movement of the handle. Also ensure that when the covers are replaced they do not trap any wires underneath.

This turns out to be an easy fix.
First, get some graphite lube.
Lay the vac on it's 'face'.
1) On the underside of the vacuum, there is a 1/2" wide 'groove" in the motor housing, that runs up the centerline of the machine. Follow this groove from the front of the machine towards the back. As you follow it 'up' into the machine, the groove will 'end'. Just past this point there will be a small black plastic piece with little 'ears' that is resting in another groove that continues just past the point where the first groove ended. This is the upright position lock that isn't releasing. (I've painted the 'ears' red in the attached photo)
2) Using a screwdriver, or butter knife, etc, gently lift this piece out of the groove. The vacuum head should now easily tilt down like it should.
3) Flip the vacuum over onto it's 'back' and you will be able to see the grooves, now visible on the front of the lower head. Apply the graphite to the smaller (upper) groove and try working the unit in and out of the upright position several times to work the graphite into the locking mechanism
