Replaced 25 year old Craftsman compound miter saw. Purchased a 10 craftsman slide saw. On old saw hold down clamp locked in place. Then you would tightening down on the wood to be cut.

On old saw hold down clamp had a locked in place. Then you would tightening down on the wood to be cut. On the new saw there is nothing to lock the clamp to the saws base. When you tighten down on the piece to be cut, the clamp does not tighten down on the wood, it just goes up. What am I doing wrong?

Can't lock miter angle with slide handle

There is a plate under the turntable which needs to be replaced, remove centre bolt locknuts and washer (44,45 and 46) from the underside of the base and lift the turntable off taking care to not loose the detent spring (36) and steel ball (37), turn it upside down and remove the spacer plate (31) and replace it, use a small amount of grease on the spring and steel ball during assembly to keep them in place

Hello stella....... There is a locking mechanism on the miter saw to lock it on whatever setting you require. loosen that locking mechanism and the saw should move for you. Here is a schematic of the parts so you can see exactly which parts are involved

Craftsman Miter Saw - can't remove the blade

It is left hand thread and if the lock won't hold what you can try is put a 2x4 on the table and pull the head down against the wood and with a good socket and ratchet loosen it that way.. remember to tighten to loosen

I have 1 10 In compound miter hexbolt will not loosen and lock will not hold. Is it possible that the bolt is a left thread?

most mitre saw bolts that hold blade are left hand thread. If you overtightened you might have to use extra force to loosen, on occasion I have had to use an impact wrench to loosen.
