Actually my son fixed it. The button on the face frame when the door is open, isn't just for the interior light. My son held it in and the oven latch slowly moved back to the open position. Thanks anyway

SOURCE: whirlpool gold refridgerator light not working and is making funny noise

Had the identical symptoms with my Whirlpool Gold GS6SHEXNB00 side-by-side refrigerator. Had a technician come on site, indicated it was the "circuit board/ timer" (Whirlpool part # 1394052). Board is accessible from behind fridge (lower left side in a white plastic housing to left of compressor).

Swapped the board out (noticed a scorched circuit on the old circuit board). Lightbulbs now work, temperature readouts also good to go.

SOURCE: Interior level indicator and interior

The failed part on my unit was 2252189, the electric control board. This board is located on the left side of the refrigerator in the back next to the compressor. Its inside a plastic box on the side. That number has changed to a number WHIW10135090 and cost $84 from www.apdepot.com

A previous post listed a part number 2303805 as being the problem. That part number was the replacement number for the control board that is located in the control box inside the refrigerator. That part is NO LONGER AVAILABLE. It has been replaced by part 2255233 which is the entire control box. cost for that part is $161.00 from AP Depot. I purchased this part first and it was found to NOT be the problem.

I would suggest that anyone who has this problem start with the less expensive part 2252189 and them see if you need to spend more.

My unit worked fine with exception the the refigerator side interior lights and the digital display. Compressor and temperatures were fine. Just an FYI on my problem specifics.

your  problem on this is the main control in the compressor compartment. unplug your refrig then remove this control unplug all connectors and reconnect. this will probably get you working temporarily In almost every case I've seen we ended up replacing the control board. thx peyton

Refrigerator Crash

Rod; when a run is melted off the board, it is always a result of one or more components on that board shorting out and drawing maximum current that generates enough heat to first lift up the run and then to melt it in two. So if you only repaired the run you still have a problem on that board.

Sounds like the electronic control in the rear compartment by compressor may be bad . There is a light in the crisper as well I believe and that one and the main light are controlled by the control in back.

Refrigerator side lights quit working bulbs are new

your control board in the lower rear of the unit is defective,a tell-tale sign of this sometimes is, if you can hear a buzzing/chattering sound and the refrigerator lights strobe dimly and the temp set and read-out in the refrigerator is not lit,the control board is located after you remove the rear lower cover on the back side of the unit and on the left inside wall you will see it in a plastic box, remove the screws that secure the box and then remove plastic top cover and there will be 3 wiring harnesses, unplug them, replace the control board and reverse procedure to reinstall

Ref light bulbs wh-pool GS5SHA

Your refrigerator has two sets of electronic control boards. One is inside and works to adjust temperature and to communicate with the other below and behind the refrigerator. They both have relays that if bad could cause the sounds you hear. It would be ok to pull it away from the wall and open bottom cover and listen to see if the sound is coming from the lower control board. If yes we need to examine the board after unplugging the power to refrigerator. let me know if the board is the reason or if while there you find something different, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Inside top of refrigerator hot light don't turn off.

There is a service bulletin related to this, dealing with deformation / melting of the lamp cover. The fix is to change the lamp wire harness to one that now has a thermal protector incorporated in it (part number 6621JK2003B) along with changing the main PCB board to one that uses a larger relay for this function (part number 6871JB1423N).

In case you want or need to replace the following,
The lamp cover is part number 3110JA1096A and the lamp holder is part number 3034JA1009A

I tried to cut and paste a few photo's, but was unsuccessful. Sorry. Make sure to test that fans and light switches work after part changes.

Fridge lights are buzzing and flickering

You need to replace the electrical control board. It's an easy fix. About $75 for the part. No electrical work necessary. Just unclipping and re-clipping wires into their ports. You do not need a repairman to do this! (I'm a 33 yr. old female, so please forgive my lack of technical terms in the post) I ordered one from AppliancePartsPros.com. It came in two days.

1. Pull out and UNPLUG the fridge.
2. Take out the screws that hold the bottom back panel on
(The electrical contol panel is located inside a white box attached to the lower left corner. )
3. Remove the screws that hold the box in place
5. Remove the bunch of wires out of the clip on the side of the box and pull the box out. Open it by releasing the clips on either side.
6. Disconnect the three sections of wires that plug into the board
7. Remove old board out of the housing
8. Insert new board,
9. Reverse above steps to complete installation.

Note: What triggers the buzzing sound is the door being opened. If you want to stop the sound and prevent the electrical current from going to the fried board until your new one comes, put a piece of tape tightly over the switch that pops out when the door is opened (located inside the unit near the door hinge).
