If volume bar is presented continuously, the TV is in a continuous command volume down state. Could be volume down button down stuck on TV, or possibly remote, or some other device capable of emulating a remote is issuing command volume down. Or control logic in TV has failed with this unusual result.

I checked all the buttons and they aren't stuck and im 100% positive that there isnt any other remote making a volume down command so what is control logic and how do i fix it?

Not sure what serviceable parts might available. Its more likely a mechanical failure, so even though the button doesn't appear to be stuck I'd target that button.

I'm not familiar with that exact TV. Its typical that the button you press is merely a cosmetic cap that somehow extends and presses on a micro switch.

The TV is not much good unless you read lips so I suggest carefully pry the button off and see whats directly beneath. That in itself may fix the volume problem. I expect what you'll find is a surface mount micro switch which likely is the culprit. Study how its attached to it circuit board and possibly fracture it loose.

I had already preiviously took the whole back off of the tv to vacume the dust out to see if this would fix the problem (it didn't) so i just unscrewed the circut board with the power menu volume and channel buttons and the red yellow and white rca jacks and swabbed it off with rubbing alcohol and observed the volume down button to see if anything looked out of the ordinary but it looked fineso im not sure what to do now...

Ok, you have higher skill set. Locate micro switch, remove from circuit board. If problem gone; congrats. If still problem; not much more to do unless you're a electronic tech/engineer.

Another thought... if TV control buttons are of a matrix, it is possible two or more other switches are stuck at same time effecting a volume down state. So make sure other switches are not stuck.

  • Vincent Novick Feb 02, 2019

Im not really of a higher skill set its just self explanatory to do what i did im actally brand new to tv repair so i dont what a micro switch is or what it means when something is of matrix so your going to have to dumbeverything down for me

SOURCE: ViewSonic N2750w 27 in Volume turns down by itself

Could be a problem with the down volume button on the tv. the board it's on ir its harness. Check them all. Make sure the volume buttons plastic actuator moves freely and is not stuck.

If these parts are all good, you have a problem on the main board. You may have to trace the control lines as far as you can and check any capacitors along the way. If you have an oscilliscope you can test the lines to see if the up volume is working correctly. If there is noise on it, you might find a bad capacitor if you can trace it back far enough. Schematic helps here.

Of course, make sure nothing is shining on the sensor window on the TV. You might want to scope that line as well (IR sensor line).

If none of that helps, get hold of Viewsonic and find your closest service provider. You can order a main board from them.

Of course, you could try just using the audio out jacks to an amplifier or a surround sound amplifer. Then you would use the remotecontrol for the surround sound system to control your volume.
Bet you were going to buy one anyway right?

SOURCE: Toshiba (Model : 36A43) - volume goes down automatically

I am having same problem on 32 inch same problem. After playing with board with no results,I tried front buttons and found that if I held the power button in ever so slighItly as not to turn it off, it fixed problem which is the micro on/off switch, I removed the switch and used the remote and everything is back to normal, I am about to insall a used micro switch after I finish typing this but I am sure this will clear up volume problen and menu going crazy problem if not I will just leave micro switch out and use the remote, and I will get back to this board only if that micro switch still causes the problem, so if I don't post in next hour the problem is fixed and I'm more than glad to help.

SOURCE: when i turn the tv. on, the volume line appears

It sounds like one of the volume down buttons is stuck in the activate position. The same as if you were holding the down volume button continuously. It could be either the volume down button on the TV or the remote. I would try remove the batteries of the remote then adjust the volume by the TV buttons.

If the volume doesn't go back down then the remote is the problem. In order to fix the remote you may need to take it apart. This is normally easy to do just locate any screws that may be holding the remote together. If you don't see any screws then you will need to pry the two sections apart. Separate the circuit board and rubber buttons and clean them both with some rubbing alcohol and reassemble it. If it still has the volume issue you may need to replace it.

If the problem persists with the remote deactivated then it's the volume button located on the TV. That is a little more difficult. You can try wiggling the button or some canned air (used to clean computer keyboards) to blow it clean. However it may need to be disassembled to gain access to the switches for proper cleaning.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Toshiba TV turns itself off

I unscrewed the back of the CRT and vacuumed off the components (tv unplugged of course, and wait a while for capacitors to loose their charge). This seemed to fix the problem. In addition to that, it got rid of the faint red hourglass lines that I had noticed when the screen was supposed to be black.

Why could my volume knob be stuck on max volume and not adjusting?

There is probably grease or dirt on the contacts inside the unit. Here's a video that shows you how to fix it:

Toshiba 32AF44. While watching a baseball game yesterday, the volume bar appeared by itself and scrolled down to zero. The bar will not disappear. It's like someone is holding the down button. Tried...

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

Volume decreasing to zero by itself

Have you looked to see if the Button on the tv itself is stuck in. Press it and you might be able to feel for it sticking. If this is the case you may want to try a baby wipe or something similar to try and sort this out. (dont use a sopping wet cloth)

hope you get this sorted.

TV Volume turns down by itself - Philips 29PT8319 Matchline 27"

Most likely the volume down button on the front of the TV or the switch that it activates is sticking. Should be an easy fix otherwise.
