Top thread keeps breaking on Janome 7330 I have replaced thread, new bobbin and needle and still breaking after a few stitches

Make sure top tension is correct for the thread and material. Make sure that the bobbin is wound correctly. Not more than 80% thread. Make sure needle is threaded correctly and the needle is pushed all the way up, flat side at back. I have been sewing for years and I sometimes have not threaded my needle correctly so it?s easily done. :-)

I don't know if this is the right answer for any of you, but thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in. Often this can be the bobbin in backwards. It needs to unwind a certain way depending on the machine. I've heard a phrase for this: Mind your p's and q's which means some wind off to the right like a q, others to the left like a p. Mine has to unwind one way then be slipped backwards into a little slot or it does that loose bottom thread looping and bunching someone here mentioned. It seems everytime I get that problem I rethread the top thread 100 times before it clicks again and I remember it could be the bobbin thread. Either your manual will tell you the correct way, or you could experiment and try one or the other. Once you figure out whether you're a p or a q, mark it on your machien somewhere to remind yourself.

Unusual for this machine. Check to be sure the needle is inserted with the flat side to the back of the machine. If it is, remove the needle plate, bobbin and bobbin case. Turn the hand wheel slowly toward you and see if the point of the hook is above or below the eye of the needle when the hook point is aligned behind the needle. If the eye is above the point of the hook the machine is out of time and best taken to qualified technician.

I had a similar problem and then realized that the thread on the top had a **** on the spool it was catching on.

This sounds like a backwards needle. Take out the needle and when you re-insert it back in, make sure that put the flat side to the back.

Difficult to say without really seeing what's happening and which thread is breaking. If the top thread is breaking, check to make sure the thread is not wrapped around the spool pin or a thread guide.

Just some things to try:
Install a brand new needle.
Be sure to clean and remove all the thread pieces, lint, etc from under the needle plate, around the shuttle, etc. Oil as instructed in the owner's manual.
Remove all the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top and rethread the machine from the beginning. Check that the thread path is correct and the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly.

Be sure to use good quality thread--no Old or bargain bin threads!

After 2 or 3 stitches needle gets locked with balled thread
Lint and or thread has collected behind or under the bobbin. use a q-tip (cotton) and swipe out and around the bobbin and bobbin case. Use a can of air and blow out and around the bobbin area. Remove the spool thread from the machine and rethread the spool and bobbin thread in machine.

Is it a new needle? a dull needle or one with a burr on it can cause those problems that you mention.The kind of needle you use is also very important. I like to use a 70/10 or 80/12 jeans needle depending on how thick the thread is.

This sounds silly, but I have the same machine and it kept happening to me too. Here's what I was doing wrong: When I thread it between 6 (thread take-up lever) and 7 (lower thread guide), the thread was being left exposed on the face of the machine instead of falling into that little **** of a crevice. One I figured out to stick it in the **** of the crevice, all was well. Try that -- and good luck!

If it was sewing correctly BEFORE the needle break...why did the needle break in the first place?...and what fixes did you make?
If it sewed properly...what changed?

Cut your upper thread close to the spool...make sure the presser foot is raised and pull the cut off thread section through/out of the machine from the needle area (sewing direction...do not pull the thread backwards!)

Clean out the bobbin area...remove any traces of lint or pieces of thread...look for any broken off needle pieces... brush the bobbin area out....then add a drop of sewing machine oil (but only if your manual says to oil that area).

Remove the needle plate to expose the feed dogs...brush/clean out that area too and add a drop of sewing machine oil...then secure the needle plate back on.
Replace the needle...do it again...yup...some needles arrive bad from the factory. Make sure the needle is inserted and positioned properly. Then thread the machine WITH the presser foot in raised position. (The thread needs to get seated into the upper tensions.)
..with the.presser foot down...thread the new needle.
Oh...and use the correct needle for the thread. (a universal 80/12 is standard).
Thread can cause issues too. Try a different bobbin, or maybe a different spool of thread to see if that makes a difference.
