you may have to pull up very slowly the handle as it may be that the capsule is stuck or even broken if you pull the handle hard you will brake the piston
try using a proper or even original capsule you are creating a problem on the diffuser when it comes to piercing the capsule.
does it work properly without the capsule?
We had the same problem and were ready to return the device when we were able to fix it. Here is what we did: 1. Fill the water tank all of the way and place in machine 2. Let the tank sit in position for a few hours (we let ours sit for 3) 3. Run the descaling option 4. Run a few cycles of the "longo" 5. If the machine is still not working repeat the process (Ours started to run after the 2nd cycle)
It just appears that the pumps are shipping with air in them and needs patience to get it out. Once you get it going though you won't regret it :)
Had the same problem. I think this happens when the pressure builds up inside. U cant try and open the lever when the machine is in the extraction phase. Just switch off the machine and wait. Mine opened about 3-4 hrs later. Had to exert some gentle pressure on the lever, though to lift it.
