The manual pictures and instructions don't seem to match the actual machine. I can't make them work with it, anyway. Anyone got experience with these things maybe? pics at: https://imgur.com/a/qCMWulZ

Good luck finding the manual and how to thread the needle. Many more out there are trying to figure out the same thing.
If you find info on it, please post to this thread. Thanks.

They are pretty straight forward. But maybe you can find another in a store and read the instructions?
Just an FYI-the bobbin thread needs to match your top thread. The majority of the thread that appears in the top of your embroidery actually IS the bobbin thread. The machine is working correctly. Don't use a bobbin full of white thread-instead, thread a bobbin with the color your doing the embroidery work in to match and you will have a perfectly beautiful embroidery.

I searched using Google to see if I could locate any information.
I found what appeared to be a free memomatic generic manual, but I don't see threading information at the link below:

Yes, thanks for that. Don't bother to look any further though. It is almost impossible to find the truth. Possibly because it is so simple. The yarn does just simply drop down through the carriage thing. All those fancy intructions are simply not necessary. That great big lever and stuff is just a 'gate' to allow passing the yarn through from the front instead of dropping down the hole.
They could have just said 'Drop the yarn through the hole'.
Or 'Drop the yarn through or if you prefer pass it through that enormously robust gate.'
And then you simple hold it. Off to the right. Nail it down by hand while passing the carriage to the left for the initial pass. then you can let go.
So incredibly simple it's at first not believable and of course if you test it and don't hold it down you get nowhere.
Drop it through the hole. Take it out to the right and hold it fast while you do the first pass.
:)
