SOURCE: i bought a hampton bay ceiling fan model uc7083t but i didn't

hi there i can help. There is a "dip switch" on nearly all fan remote units, much like a garage door opener has. To keep all the fans in your home from operating at one time, each fan needs a seperate "code". To use your other remote, you need to locate the receiver unit in the fan, usually in the "canopy". This is the bowl looking piece against the ceiling. then note the "code" which is the position of the switches. For instance, most have a block with 4 switches, and if the first is "on", and the remaining are "off", that is it's set code. This "code" can be changed to any combination of "on , off" that you like. BUT, you must also open the remote control and set it's switch to the exact same "Code", or order of "on off" as your Fan receiver. (Usually the control "Dip switch" is in the battery compartment.

SOURCE: I have the Hampton Bay

You have to go inside the actual ceiling fan. If you look on the part right above the light, there should be 3 or 4 screws in the side, connecting the light setup to the body of the fan. Unscrew those screws and disconnect the wiring harness. Inside the now open fan wiring, you should see a little box, that is the remote receiver. Either on one of the sides of the box, or inside that box will be the code. It will look just like the code switches on the remote. Make sure they match up, clip the wiring harness for the light and the fan back together, screw those screws back in, and you should be good to go.

SOURCE: how do you reverse the direction on this model of ceiling fan

I have this exact model, and have been so disappointed with the answers everyone has been giving about things they don't know. On the top of the fan, about one inch away from the center cover plate (the plate that slides up and down for looks, that is around the down shaft) run your hand around about two fingers wide, you will find a switch, RECESSED into the housing (if you are not feeling very carefully you will think it is just a normal opening in the housing. This will fix your issue, Unless you remove the fan or your head is crammed against the ceiling, you will NOT see the switch.

I'm trying to take down my Hamton Bay Ceiling fan. How do I get the cover offthat is covering the electrical box

Hi,
They make them a couple of ways...

The most common is for them to have screws on the vertical sides of the cover... remove them and then twist the cover off...
Some have screws up through the cover....

and some covers will just twist off...

Get something to get up there in such away that you are comfortable...and can do some twisting and pulling with out being afraid of falling...

try turning off the switch/circuit breaker at the main lighting panel. Then just turn it back on. Worked for me.
I'm guessing a capacitor in the remote is holding a charge and causing the problem. You'll probably need a new remote soon thiough.

mcdevito75 here, Double check your barrey install in the remote, evn new batteries could be weak, also, you may have to get to the shroud just at the ceiling, that"s the cover for the fans wireing, and see if the reciever eye for the remote is clean. Also does the remote have to be programed to operate the fan.
