I can't see a listing for that error on the 400 but it usually refers to a full journal memory on other models. Check your manual for the procedure to reset the electronic journal (maybe called EJ). You won't lose any programming or daily sales report info by resetting/ clearing the EJ so give it a try

To clear the EJ: turn the key to Z, press "RC" until you see "clear EJ", press the "cash" key.

EJ stands for Electronic Journal. The ej is a record of all the sales made on the till since the last time the ej was cleared. If you dont clear it then it eventually fills up and stops the till from working until it is cleared. I dont have a manual for this model but there will be a report to print and clear the ej in your manual.
