Troubleshoot and fix treadmill that accepts speed increase commands but the motor ignore speed decrease commands.

The treadmill will start and operate normally. Starting at slow speed and accepting keypad and hand-rest button commands to speed up. It also accepts the commands to slow down and the display is updated accordingly but the motor does not slow down. This is a Trojan treadmill with a B01-A6 speed controller board. I Checked the wiring at the motor, speed controller board and speed sensor. I also checked the speed sensor and all seems fine.

Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that is
UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor
(TVSS). The surge suppressor must have a
UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less
and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules.
The surge suppressor must be electrically rated
for 120 volts AC and 15 amps. There must be a
monitoring light on the surge suppressor to indicate
whether it is functioning properly. Failure to
use a properly functioning surge suppressor could
result in damage to the control system of the
treadmill. If the control system is damaged, the
walking belt may change speed or stop unexpectedly,
which may result in a fall and serious injury.

SOURCE: Athlon iQ2 treadmill-just replaced motor control

If this is the same problem you had prior to replacing the MCB and speed sensor. I would check the drive motor, unplug unit then remove motor shroud then unplug the connectors leading to the motor itself. If you have wire leads and a 18v drill battery connect the leads into motor then attach the other end to you battery and if the motor will rotate ( approx. 1mph) , if it does the check speed sensor to see if the correct spacing between sensor and front roller ( check if the magnet has not fallen out of front roller pulley this also can cause you problems) hope this help!!

SOURCE: Hello, I have an ENERGETICS PR 2.8 Power run

1) This error code has 2 options
a) Elevation Motor: a) lube the gear and shaft b) adjust the potentiomenter c) test the motor see my personal tips for help.

2) Display board: a) adjust the reed swithc , see the diagram attached, clean, tight the wires connector very well.

After you did the adjustment RUN the software calibration for diagnose and troubleshooting.

God bless you

Testimonial: "I cannot find my manual on the site :-( I have the original manual but this type of information is not displayed. I am not sure how to adjust the 'elevation motor' ? I still cannot see the magnet/reed switch on either the motor pulley or the front roller - are you sure all treadmills have these and might it not be built into the actual motor? The link to your "personal tips" does not take me to the correct page?"

NordicTrack treadmill EXP 1000

Please note that these instructions don't apply to all models of treadmills. Many recent models, including all models with touchscreen consoles, do not have the capability for the user to calibrate the speed.
Speed calibration is a process that is used to correct imbalances in the machine's operating speed.
Please note that this procedure involves pushing the machine to its maximum speed very quickly. Do NOT stand on the treadmill while performing this procedure.
First, you need to enter calibration mode on the console. To do this, press and hold the STOP and SPEED INCREASE buttons (this will be either an up arrow or a + (plus) symbol). While holding these buttons, insert the safety key onto the console. This will cause the machine to go into calibration mode. After this has occurred, you may let go of the buttons and the safety key.
Next, press the stop button once. This will enter advance the screen to the next feature of calibration mode. As said previously, do not stand on the treadmill while performing this procedure. Press and hold the speed increase button. Watch the console. You will see a number on the display that will increase as you hold the speed increase button. Continue to hold the speed increase button until the number changes to "85." This will take the treadmill to its maximum speed, which will also be displayed on the console. Please note that the example below only demonstrates the console displaying "85", not the treadmill's operating speed.

Keep getting error 22 message. What is it and how do I fix it? It makes the treadmill completely shut down.

Precor Error Code 22 Error Code: 22 Manufacturer: Precor
Model: All Models
Error Description: Error 22, No Motor Pulses at Start Up - Error indicates that the display has sent a command for the drive motor to start, however, the speed sensor has not returned the signal acknowledging that the drive motor has started. Possible Reason:
  1. The line of sight between the speed sensor and the speed sensor target is obstructed.
  2. Badly worn drive motor brushes.
  3. Incorrect gap between the speed sensor and the speed sensor target.
  4. Incorrect adjustment of the speed sensor potentiometer (when equipped).
  5. Inoperative speed sensor.
  6. Faulty lower PCA.
  7. Faulty interconnect cable between upper and lower PCA.
  8. Faulty upper PCA.
Recommended Action:
  1. Using a static safe vacuum cleaner, carefully vacuum out the drive motor compartment. Be sure to thoroughly clean the area between the speed sensor and the speed sensor target.
  2. Bady worn drive motor brushes cannot make proper contact with the motor commutator, therefore the drive motor will not start when voltage is applied. Inspect and replace drive motor brushes if necessary.
  3. Inspect the gap of the speed sensor to the speed sensor target. Proper gap is 3/16" and the speed sensor photo eye should be aimed at the larger portion of the targets wedge shaped section. If unit has a magnetic speed sensor, the gap between the end of the sensor and the flywheel tooth needs to be 3/16".
  4. Locate the speed sensor potentiometer (when equipped) on the lower PCA. Set the speed sensor potentiometer to mid-range. Start the treadmill and increase speed to 6 mph. Carefully adjust the speed sensor potentiometer until the treadmill is operating the smoothest. Increase the speed to full speed and again adjust the speed sensor potentiometer until the treadmill is operating the smoothest. These two adjustments are typically small and are generally only a matter of fine tuning.
  5. An inoperative speed sensor will allow the drive motor to start and run briefly before the error appears. If able to access the speed sensor wiring, measure the DC voltage between the speed sensor leads. Two of the leads will always read about 5 VDC. Two will toggle between 0 and 5 VDC as you slowly turn the speed sensor target. If both measurements are not seen, the speed sensor needs replaced. Some units have the speed sensor mounted on the lower PCA and the lower PCA needs replaced.
  6. Determine if the lower PCA is bad by swapping with a known good lower PCA.
  7. Determine if the interconnect cable is bad by swapping with a know good cable.
  8. Determine if the upper PCA is bad by swapping with a know good upper PCA.

My ProForm 750 only runs at low speed. Varying

If u r seeing the increasing variation takeing effect on the panel but the speed does not increase in real, then there is nothing wrong with the push button for sure.
what it could be is ,
1. Your motor is getting overheat quickly and does not accept the higher speed commands.
2. it could be a belt slip also (do u hear any extra noice / vibration when u increase speed)
3. next time, pls unplugg the unit for atleast 4 hrs and when u start after that increse the speed very next moment and see if it works. if it does increase this way then it is time take look first on the belt ans then check the motor.

Good luck.
