DVD display reads HELLO but I can't get the on/off to work or to play a DVD

Hello I'm from Greece j took car dvd player mofeset 45×4 when I put dvd it writes initializing read and it doesn't play the dvd I must do something so it can play dvd;

The reason why the DVD section is not playing DVD's (but still plays CD's) is that the laser has gone defective. The laser in a DVD machine has two lasers within it and the one that reads DVD's has gone!

Looks as if a new laser is on the cards!

how long have you been using the player? Does it play VCD and Audio disc presently?

I think the reason your player is not reading the DVD plate is because the lens (laser) is weak.

You need to have it cleaned with lens cleaner and try again.

Hello, I had the same problem and after spending a few hours reading and trying things, I found a solution. Its very simple. Power on your unit (manually) and then on your remote control push and hold at the same time"enter" and the number "1" while pointing directly to your unit and this should solve the problem. Good luck.

hello i have had the same problem this maybe because of the region that your dvd is made to play.different dvd players play different.region dvd the regions should be on the dvd and the dvd cover.

if after the hello display you open the tray and inserted already the dvd push play and the thing is always with the hello and after reasonable time (one minute) and nothing change the display stil with the hello thing:
use another dvd and the same answer.
your dvd is not read in the memory because the set is not able to do it and the memory is waiting for that data. So your Dvd memory is waiting for the mechanism to send that data and say: hello.
So time to visit a repair place. to amke sure about any estimate.

It sounds to me like Its in need of cleaning the dvd lenses collect dust over time
of no use and will cause them to not read properly try running a dvd cleaner disk in it you may have to run it a few times but it should work if it doesnt you can try to take it apart to get to the lense and clean it with alcohol and a cue tip lightly dipped.

How I got my DVD from ”lock” condition

My DVD (Panasonic m: DMR-ES10) had gone to ”locked” condition without any warning.

Perhaps the reason was that I transfered the machine when it was on and recording was going…

Guidebook didn´t help to resolve the problem, neither Internet. Finally I managed to solve the promlem . This is how i did step by step:

1) Power on
2) Hello
3) read
4) no disc
5) functions
6) to others
7) setup
8) select down arrow
9) disc
10) select right arrow
11) setings for playback
12) enter
13) ratings (level8)
14) enter
15) No limit
16) enter
17) ”The Recorder is now unlocked” (picture of open lock)
18) enter
19) return
20) return

After this DVD works normally.

Try a lens cleaner cd, as when the lens gets misaligned or if it's quite old, it will find it harder to read a DVD as the tracks are much closer together than that of a VCD as they are cd's and their tracks are wider apart and easier to read.
