Question about Swintec Office Equipment & Supplies

My Swintec 8014 typewriter will not print the right letters , I just put a new print wheel in and it types, just not the right letters.

The print wheel is an excellent 10/12

There may be 2 or more cables from the keyboard connected to the main circuit board. If you have these ribbon cables, they will have to be disconnected and cleaned. Look for a plastic clamp that must be lifted to remove the cables. The cover must be removed to access these connections.

Try removing the print wheel and look for an indexing bar or slot that matches the stub that it attaches too. The bar or slot serves to index the wheel to the printer. Alternatively, check the new wheel against the old wheel to see if the letters are in the same order in relation to the indexing bar or tab.

First check check the pitch selector switch to be sure it is not in proportional spacing. if it isn't push down on it and see if it goes away, if is goes away the keyboard needs repaired.

Replacing printwheel in swintec


Remove the ribbon, pull back on the black lever on the R. edge of the print wheel.

Typewriter will not type


f it will type on a carbon copy the problem is the ribbon if it dosen't
there is a mechinial problem, be sure the print wheel is nlatched in place.

For a Swintec 8014 typewriter: the bottom portion of the letters are not tranferring to the paper when the keys are striked. although the ribbon shows the full letter being striked, only the top portion...


Check to be sure the ribbon dosen't have a fold in it and is fully seated in place, be sure the platen is fully seated in the side frames, check the correction tape for proper imstallation it can rob the print if to high.

Types wrong letters


It sounds like you have the 10,12,15,PS selector switch on PS with a 10, or 12 print wheel installed. Return to the left margin, move the switch to 10 and type.
