My old 2011 MacBook Pro GPU has failed. 'Reballing' only helped for a few days. I have managed to get it to use the Intel integrated GPU but, it will only run in safe mode. How can I fix that ?
1 - Boot Single User (press Command + S) at boot (If you have MacOS installed on your hard drive).
2 - If you have a blank HD, then use the USB stick/Pendrive with the MacOS installer (El Capitan, Sierra or HighSierra).
2.1 - Press Option key at boot, Position the mouse on the MacOS installer icon.
2.2 - Press Command + S and keep holding these two keys.
2.3 - Click the MacOS installer icon -> continue holding the Command + S keys until you finish the MacOS installer Single User boot .
Enter these commands (change gpu-power-prefs to Intel GPU and boot verbose):
Code:
nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00 nvram boot-args="-v"
reboot

It's long and take time Good luck
To reset your Mac back to starting up normally, launch Terminal and enter the following at the command prompt:
sudo nvram -d boot-args
Press enter or return.
Supply your administrator password, then press enter or return.
You can quit Terminal, and then restart your Mac. It should now start up normally.
why is OP here at all and not on real apple forum, so the impossible might happen
learn there is no reballing fix
ok
its hack that can work for a day or so
but is never a cure,
(in real full shop with pro grade reflow tools yes, but not you,at home and kids kicking the table)
the repair in real shop is 2x cost of new board.
if you buy a used board of fleabay
you get those same 2008 defective chips
GPU.
i guess you come here (not apple)because
they told you the truth and refuse to believe it.(that?)
2 choices here,
1: buy a real PC,not 2008 POS (bad chip day)
2: or reball for the rest of your life
time to decide 1 or 2.
your call.
now the force deal
ask apple that
even a bios upgrade can help here.
ask them it is there OS,their and there, ****** BIOS
ask them.
we dont sell PCs here nor write BIOS firmware here, or ANY THING like that.
ask actual apple.
some laptops have 2 GPU
the working embedded one, only works in low battery mode 2D. to save power!!!
and when charged, goes to 3d GPU (automatic)
only hacks can force 2d full time.
all that is PURE APPLE logic. oK
ask them ok?
Did that - they said the free replacement term had expired.

SOURCE: Macbook Pro Right speaker isn't working
I hate to break it to you, but it sounds like a hardware issue. Have you tried going into System Preferences yet? If not, go to System Prefs>Sound>Output tab and then check the speaker balance. If the slider is in the middle, then it definitely sounds like a hardware issue.
I'm going to guess you've had your MBP for a while now, which would mean that something inside like a speaker wire could have gotten knocked around enough to just fall off, or loosen a connecter just enough to make the speaker not work. That is, of course, if it is not System Prefs. Let me know how it goes.
SOURCE: wont boot into windows
Have you attempted to run in Safe mode? Does it boot there. If you boot to safemode and it locks on MUP.SYS most likely just the OS needs reinstalled. Go in to CMOS (F10 on boot I think) and under tools there should be a hard drive test.
Hope this helps

Check for the pins inside the integrated NIC to check if the pins are bent / disfigured. Does not look like the additional card is making any different, looks more like a moving NIC cable is makin the difference.
Lemme know if this helped!

Here is the ATI driver page on the Lenovo support site. They list the XP driver for your model. Download and reinstall to see if this solves your problem. If you get errors or if you are not running XP please post beneath this thread with additional info so I can follow up with you...

Yes, I've done that - but, it only runs and boots fully in Single User mode. At least, the display is readable now, using the PU card it was not.
