Most likely a mechanical component has either broke or come loose. The only way to truly answer your question is to take it apart and inspect for physical damage. If all is in order then the impact may have damaged the electrical components/firmware.
Not much is designed to be repaired (easily) anymore. Good luck!

Most anything is repairable. Question is is it more cost effective to just buy a new one. We don’t know.

No matter what DVD I load in the player, it won't play the DVD. It says "Cannot play this disk". What's the problem?

The first thing to try is to clean the laser itself by using a cleaning disc. If that fails then most likely the pickup laser is no longer any good. This is usually obvious if you place an audio CD in the unit and it plays fine : )

I was playing cd's in my portable player it stopped and read NO DISC what is wrong with it?

Have you tried different discs andare you geting the same problem? If so sounds like the laser eye is mis-aligned from a abrupt jar or drop or no longer good and needs to be replaced. If its mis-alligned it can be realligned by taking it to a repair shop but may cost more than replacing the unit itself.

Loading but nothing happens

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you.I hope this information helps your problem.

Thanks for using FixYa.

First, if you have a receipt, you have a warranty.

If the unit will not play any commercial dvd, unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. It can not be repaired. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. Also, you may want to call the number above to see if your model qualifies for out of warranty exchange. The cost of the exchange would be $31.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!
