How to fix a broken wooden door - Building Materials

  • Anonymous Feb 21, 2019

It is a wooden door. The bottom half of the door is broken and I'm looking for the best and least cost-effective way to fix this door myself. I'm racking my mind because I don't want to buy a new door and have to hire someone to put it in.

When the engine is running the door open indicator on the dash shows a door open, thus when the engine is off the dome light stays on, what could cause this?

On the doors, and in some vehicles the trunk, there is a pushrod style tab similar to a fridge door. When the door is closed, it pushes the tab in, and shuts off the light. Vice versa when one of the tabs is fully extended the light turns on. Check all your doors for the tabs and see if any of them are broken. If they are, then you can solve this by using something to push into the cavity and shutting off the light. Without replacing the broken parts, you could use a small wooden dowel rod in it's place for a temporary fix.

Alternatively, there should be a toggle switch on the dome light that allows you to choose whether the light is on, comes on when the doors are opened, or remain off. It would be just as simple to switch it to 'off' provided you don't rely on it too heavily.

Oven door handle has broken. Model TKC 1255/2/SS. I am unable to find a supplier who stocks spares for this - can you help

Try ebay, or thefind.com. Otherwise, some appliance recycle locations may have a used. Or a handy repair man may be able to fashion a repair or wooden replacement. If you still have the parts, and somewhat DIY inclined, JB Weld Epoxy and a metal threaded rod or similar reinforcement in a hollow handle may be the fix.

Rear electric window will notwork

Yes . Remove door panel, switch connectors and plastic protective covering on the door. have a helper pull the windw up while you measure the distance from bottom of window regulator to bottom of door panel.
(approx 8-12"), cut a block of wood that will fit between the bottom of the regulator to bottom of door panel wedge it threw the opening in the door a place it between the regulator and door bottom. Wood is soft and sturdy and should hold up until you get the window fixed.
Can the driver control panel switch make that window work. If the answer is No then the problem is the motor on that side. If the answer is yes then the problem is the switch on that window. by the way if the driver control panel gets the window to rise Merry Christmas you don't need the wooden block.

Bosch SGVV53E03GB/55 cannot get panel door off

I have an SGV53E23 so don't know if this will help. My door is screwed but also held in place by 2 double sided sticky pads about half way down. They stick like the proverbial so try easing the door off one side at a time and look down to see if you can see any sticky pads. If so firm but gentle easing will get the baby off.
