SOURCE: Oven door stays slightly open

The unit may be out of plumb ( square to the floor ). I suggest you get a level and make sure the stove/oven is level and if it's not, there are some levelers ( where legs would be on the bottom ) that can be adjusted with needle nose pliers or a cresent wrench. If this doesn'e work, you may have some hinges sprung and need to replace them. Good Luck

SOURCE: fridge door is lower then freezer door

The #1 cause for this problem: The floor beneath the fridge is uneven, causing the refrigerator "box" to be out of square. Adjust the levelers on the fridge bottom to compensate for the uneven floor. That should do it.

How to adjust door viking dfsb423

Viking 42" built-in units usually don't offer any door adjustments. If one of the doors are not closing well, check for obstructions blocking the door bins, worn door gasket, and possible door warp-age on the panel ready models. Viking did have top hinge recalls updating to the new "Cobra" hinge on many of their models which can be verified by calling viking and providing your full model/serial numbers. If your Fridge door is lower than the freezer door you most likely have a worn door closer located on the lower hinge of the fridge door, the closer is a 2 piece plastic interlocking/mating unit which wears down over time from friction. This usually needs to be replaced. Pleazer Appliance...

Freezer door opens when fridge door is closed

that is common, your pushing air back into the other side and that pops the door. First adjust the ref so that the back sits lower than the front. It will have 2 5/16th nuts on the front behind the kickplate. going left will lower the back of the unit. After that get out some vasoline and lube up the flat sides of the door seal, this will help keep the seal moist and it wont pop open as easy

I have a Northland freezer/fridge side by side unit. Model # NM118. The door on the refrigerator side is not properly aligned with respect to the door on the fridge side. The refrigerator side door is...

Start by making sure the box is square -- that the doors are perfectly parallel across the top, with respect to the outside of the box. You fix that problem by adjusting the front feet on the fridge to square up the box. If the doors are all square and the fridge door is still low, look for some adjustment in the bottom door bracket - may have some slots where you can loosen mounting screws and adjust upwards. This may take two people or a lever (maybe a piece of lumber) as you have to raise the door while you're making the adjustment. OR remove the top bracket, remove the door and set it aside then try adjusting the bottom bracket and replacing the door and top bracket.

My viking oven door has literally fallen off the left hand side hinge - is this a diy FIX?

The door slides onto the two hinges and is held in place with two gravity operated latches. I'm not sure of the condition of your range but it sounds like the door was forced or lifted rapidly allowing the one side to release. The only solution I know of is to remove the other side and reinstall. The hinges have multiple locking positions so the next time you are cleaning your oven, open the door about 8 inches, find the small latches in the door hinge groove, and hold them upwards as you lift the door towards yourself.
The hinges should remain slightly opened. For installation, lower the door onto the hinge posts and pull it outwards slightly.

The right door of my Kenmore side by side

You may have a broken cam riser which is located at bottom hinge. Compare the 2 hinges with the doors open. The right side is probably missing 1 piece.

Adjustment of the fresh food door.

Normal for freezer door to be slightly higher, The upper hinges can be adjusted to make minor changes and raising the front roller under the rlower door will(or lower the higher side) help align them. It is a trial and error adjustment that takes time to get the best compromise of door alignment to cabinet setting.

Side by side doors uneven at top

Hi Carol,

Interestingly enough, I answered a similar question just the other day. Maybe there's an outbreak of lazy factory technicians who "forget" to tighten the hinge brackets? Hmmmm. Makes on wonder...

Anyway, it's easy... The door alignment adjustment is done at the top hinge. Pull up a step-stool, then remove the hinge cover. Under there you'll see three screws, I think they're 5/16". Loosen these (since your door has dropped, they're probably already loose), then lift up on the door handle to align it with the other door... while keeping the door aligned, tighten the hinge screws (and put alot of torque on 'em to keep 'em from loosening in the future). Now just replace the hinge cover and your done!

Leveling refrigerator

In a Home the recommended level (front higher to back lower) is 1/4" (Right to Left - level)
Never less than in order to allow door to shut own their own, but there is nothing wrong with having a perfect level refrig if everyone closes the doors properly which they won't. A refrigerator requires to be reasonable leveled to avoid compressor fatigue. In a Motorhome people can't always find level ground, so it quite frequent that their refrigerator burns up when running. From that experience I'd say I would level any fridge which is over 1/2 inch off.
