Hi
This could be down to dust/dirt getting into one of the menu buttons. This could give the camera the impression the button is permanently being depressed. Check all the buttons to check that they are free moving and not stuck in anyway.

That shouldn't be a problem - Sony bought minolta, and based their DSLR's off the minolta line. This lens is supposed to work with the Sony without any problems.

Specifically for the A300 I do not know, but generally for any camera you will bracket three frames in the range of -1 to +1. I believe the A300 allows you to choose either aperture shutter or ISO. I recommend going to www.dpreview.com and them Discussion forums/Sony DSLR and ask the question there. You will find many helpful A300/350 users there.

It depends on the mount on the camera.
Quantaray is a 3rd party lens maker. They make the lens itself, then add a mount for each brand of camera lens mount. In some cases, you can have the mount changed at a camera shop.
But the only way to answer your question is to know what camera it was used on previously. If it was used on a Sony, then, likely, yes.
