All plugs besides 1 was .dirty one was still clean..why

could be that particular cylinder isn't burning fuel as well as the others, may have lower compression, if you have no running problems or using oil or poor fuel consumption then for a car of that age it is quite normal

poor spark plugs, dirty injectors, poor gas, thermostat opening too soon, how you drive the car, dirty air filter, jack rabbit take off from a stop. just some things that can cause this.

distributor cap contacts dirty clean them or the rotor arm dirty clean it. or worn spark plugs .smell for fuel if ok change the plugs.

2L can sure for many a reason (besides bad tranny "slip")
1: bad need of tune up.
2: EGR sticking open, clean it, the service lists , lists it, at 50k miles.
3: lean fuel mixture.
4: ISC bad or just dirty, we clean ours at EGR clean 50k.

is CEL lamp glowing key on, then after started did it go out?
no ?, bad, scan it.

cylinder 3 and 5 misfire could be worn spark plugs or faulty ignition coils.could have dirty fuel injectors.clean fuel injectors by filling gas adding 1 can seafoam to fuel tank this will clean fuel njectors while driving the vechicle.

It could be alot of things but the first thing I would try is a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Make sure it's only fuel injector cleaner and not for fuel injectors and carburators. Add 1 bottle to 2-3 gallons of premium gas on a nearly empty tank. If its a dirty injector, that will clean it out. If its still doing it after that then it might be a dirty plug or a plug wire grounding out. Good Luck!

Whats going on here is that you have a too rich fuel air mixture. This will cause your misfiring and set off the PO172 Code. Your Bank 1 O2 Sensor is picking up the too rich mixture. This O2 sensor is location on the #1 Cylinder side (so you problem could be in #1/#3/#5 Cylinder). A dirty MAF Sensor, loose plug wire, dirty/broken spark plug, dirty fuel injectors, vacuum leak, and PCV Valve could all be a cause. I would run some injector cleaner through and also clean the MAF Sensor, change your PCV Valve. This would be an easy and cheap start for you. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!
