SOURCE: Epson rx580 printer
I just started calling Epson's customer service line every time. They always offered to FEDEX new ink. I got tired of waiting for it to come and began returning bad cartridges to office depot where I had bought it and found out that they will take it back if it doesn't work. Now I've decided that some (a lot) of Epson's ink cartridges for the RX580 are bad and that I just have to keep trying until I get ink cartridges that work. I had tried the qtip cleaning, checking the ink/sensor connection, and making sure I had them snapped in tight. I've finally figured out it IS the ink. BTW, I always use the ink Epson reccomends, so it is definately that many of their cartridges are faulty. It's a pain to have to return them but as long as I can return and replace them and eventually have a machine that will print when I need it to, I can live with that.

All cartridges must be on to work. One of my cartridges had a broken retainer clip, so I used a sticky (strong foamy tape), between it and the adjoining cartridge (carefully alligned). So, the cartridge beside it does all the work to retain both cartridges, and the solution worked.
If there is a generic cartridges problem, there is a website on generic ink that works. I think a piece of the software that recognizes ink levels must be shut off

try cleaning printer connections where cartridges mate with alcohol and qtips?let thoroughly dry!! good luck!!!

f you have
just installed a new cartridge and you still see an ink related error
message, the cartridge may be incorrectly installed. Follow these steps
to make sure the cartridges are correctly installed:
Caution:
Never
attempt to open the cartridge cover when the print head is moving. Wait
until the cartridges have moved to the replacement position.
Note:
If a cartridge is properly seated already, you may not hear a click.
Caution:
Never turn off the Stylus CX while the Charging Ink message is displayed or you'll waste ink.

Unplug your printer from the computer and then the power supply. Remove the inks from the printer. Plug the printer back into the computer first then connect the power supply. Install the inks "very slowly" one by one and then check the levels, they should now read full. Thank you, Dana
