Stuart - this sounds like an air problem - you should perform the following test. With the air nailer close to the compressor you must monitor the airpressure after the gun fires. it sounds like the air is not gettting through diapram fast enough or there is a blockage in line. Blockage in line is not suspected for the following reason . It sounds like the air hose is holding enough air to fire 2-4 nails and then you must wait for the line to fill up again and then it fires ok. The pressure regulator out to the line controls this and they do fail. try this test and report back to me - I know I can solve this for you as I have extensive background in compressor and the like.

SOURCE: Air leaks arond trigger when depressed, but no nail fires.

Where does the air leak out from? If it leaks from the trigger DeWalt makes a trigger valve assembly part # 641006-00 list 8.89 BUT if it leaks from other areas we have to look into it deeper. If it is just the trigger valve let me know and I will give you instructions how to remove and install the new one.

SOURCE: Senco SFN1 wont work

I have worked on many sfn1 with the problem that you describe. Here are a few things to check. Driver/piston too tight or too loose in cylinder or bent. It should be relatively easy to move the driver piston up/down the cylinder. Usually it should hold it's own weight and not drop down the cylinder. There is a washer that should be at the bottom of the gun under the bumper (washer part# bf0070). This washer must not be worn to the point that too much air will leak past or missing. Finally there is an oring that controlls return of piston (part # lb0077). Pull out the cylinder and find it located on the outer part of the cylinder close to bottom. Clean the port holes under the oring and make sure that the oring fits snuggly. Do not use oil in this gun. Oil will swell the rubber parts. I use silicone lube available form Lowes in the plumbing department. The grease is used to lube faucet orings. Good luck with your repair and email if you have questions.

SOURCE: Paslode nail gun 325 black not firing

Any time these guns become intermittent or stop firing but the fan still runs, the first the to check is the expiration date on the gas cartridges. The do expire and this will make the gun work inconsistently or not at all.

I put a new o ring rebuild kit in my Bostitch N80 sb framing nailer. I replaced every o-ring (including the trigger valve assembly

If the new trigger valve leaks air when you connect the air supply, most likely defective valve or air is leaking past outer trigger valve orings due to debris in the slot or new orings were cut when the valve was pushed in. If air leaks when you depress safety to fire gun then most likely problem is in the head valve or safety foot is not pushing the firing pin all the way in. Easy test, remove nails and remove the trigger to expose the firing pin. Connect air and very quickly depress the firing pin all the way in. If the gun fires, adjust the safety foot as needed. If the gun does not fire, remove the head and check headvalve orings for good snug fit against the cylinder within the head. The surface were orings make contact must be very smooth and not too deeply worn. If you notice fine scratches remove with fine sandpaper. Reinstall head using plenty of white grease on all the orings within the head and retest. Good luck

I have a N80SB stick nail gun that have been leaking air from the trigger valve but was still able to shoot nails. After 3 months of discontinued use, I plugged in the air hose and fire the first nail

A new trigger valve and o-ring kit will give you a like new gun. Just remember to replace all available o-rings in the kit, lightly grease all of them as you reassemble the gun and use pneumatic oil at the beginning of the day so you won't be doing it again in a couple months.

My paslode air framing nailer model 5350-90s is loosing air out of the trigger valve when I press on the trigger and the nail does not fire. What is the problem ?

Sounds like a bad O ring. There are rebuild kits you can get with a new set of O rings. Or you can have it done for about $30-50.

Paslode f350s.just replaced all o rings, now when you pull the trigger air leaks out through the trigger, but only when depressed..will not fire nail.please help ..thanks bob

Simple. You have a leak you didn't have before. Either find it, or take it to someone who knows what they're doing. O-rings have a thickness, as well as a diameter. If you used generic rings, that's probably the problem. Use the repair kit by Paslode.

On the trigger of my Bostich Spiral load nail gun AND my Bostick trim nail gun air is leaking profusely from the trigger. Nail guns were not in use for about a year. When I first used them this weekend,...

A nail gun works on compressed air.
When you hook the air hose to the gun it fills a cylinder with air pressure.
When you pull the trigger. the cylinder pressure is released onto a firing pin that shoots the nail.
The air pressure line is also connected to the trigger and therefore the trigger has to be sealed.

When ever using a nail gun, you add a bit of gun oil in the back of the gun (not 3-in-1motor oil, it has to be non-detergent gun oil)

If you haven't used the gun in a while, it is best to oil up the gun and let the oil run down into the gun.
If you use anything but gun oil, the seals will give out.

Your trigger seal has given out. It is probably an 'O' ring. You can access it by taking it apart. Look for the O ring.
Bostich makes re-build kits for the different guns that you can buy on-line.
Back when I was in construction, there were several nail gun shops that sold and serviced nail guns, and sold nails to the contractors. I don't know if that business model is still active or if you have to send the guns to Bostich service center.

Gun is only a few yrs old and has had moderate use. Problem is that when depressing the nose piece I get a hissing of air and it will not fire. It will sometimes fire but after a few nails it just hisses...

Your o-rings are wore out. Paslode makes(made) a Tool Repair Kit, PN219235 and Trigger Valve Kit, PN219224 for your gun. Always use all of the o-rings in the kit and liberally lubricate them before installing them using grease in the kit or nail gun oil. If the kits are no longer available you'll have to get a breakdown of the gun, (www.paslode.com/uploadedFiles/PowerMaster_Plus_Parts_Diagram_Schematics.pdf) and order all of the o-rings. Be very carefull to put everythng back together properly, you are working with a gun.

Paslode framer when you depress trigger there no resistance and it does not fire

Paslode framer has a lever inside of trigger that may be bent or missing. Easy to check. Remove air line and nails. Remove trigger by pulling pin. Check under trigger for missing parts. Test gun by connecting to air and place nose of gun against wood or hard rubber and then depress firing pin. If gun fires then problem is with lever under trigger or safety mechanism which is in two parts. Check safety for bent or broken piece, usually upper part will be missing lip that actually pushes on the lever. If however gun does not fire when firing pin is depressed, time for replacing orings in gun. Parts are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com . Good luck with your repair and post again if you have other questions.

I have some air nailers and staplers that have some leaks and aren't working properly. I would like to try rebuilding them, they are bostitch, paslode, and senco. I have found the rebuild kits for trigger...

The kits for the senco guns, have all the o-rings and seals needed to stop most leaks, no hard parts. You have to replace all of them, no oil is needed, but it needs to be clean, some have little tubes of grease for the o-rings. I'm sure the other guns are the same way. Some of them will give you a fit. I had a senco sfn1, totally rebuilt, still leaked, tried it again, still leaked, called senco, they said send it to us, they fixed it for free, but never said what the problem was. Some times the triggers go and you end up building the whole gun for nothing, and the trigger still leaks, they are the toughest to spot. I have seen a lot of complaints about paslode. We tried them all in our shop, and the senco was/is the best, So we fazed out all the other guns and kept the senco, so all the nails were from 1 dealer, all the parts, we weren't looking all over town for a box of staples.
