Remove blade 0n model js500 black & decker jig saw which broke of in the saw

Search online for black and decker parts using the model number (on the label on the jigsaw). But Black and Decker are manufactured to bot be very durable, its better and probably cheaper to replace it, with almost any other brand. If cost is an issue but a used high quality item on ebay, made by Makita, Hitachi, Bosch or Metabo. Even and old one of these is better than a black and decker.

either on the left or right side of the blade holder there will be a little lever to pull that will release the blade, pull on the blade at the same time you pull on this release

Hi, Using Black and Decker blades should be ok as they are part of the same company. Bosch jig saw blades work just as well to be honest and tend to be cheaper sometimes as they are geared more for trade where as Black and Decker are more for the Diy and they like to hike the price up. There are lot of cheap 'For Dewalt' blades for sale on ebay, and from past experience stay well clear. They are copy's of genuine Dewalt, made of cheap steel and not as sharp, they don't last long and snap so easy while in use, so stick to a good branded make.

on most newer jigsaws there should be a collar that you just slide back to remove old blade and insert new one

the blade jig saw does not stay in on black &decker js2500

Either the blade is not in all the way, or the back plate is missing or screw is stripped.

Go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number and you can download the instruction manual for this tool with detailed instructions on how to change the blade. It is 8 pages long.

Fitting the saw blade (figure A)
- Hold the saw blade (9) as shown, with teeth facing forward.
- Push the lever (3) downwards.
- Insert the shank of the saw blade into the blade holder (10) as far as it will go.
- Release the lever.

There is a little lever where the base of the blade fits into the holder that you depress to release the blade...You can see a picture of it in the manual.
