Trying to remove the black hose/fitting. The plastic collet is broken, so the hose won't release from the brass fitting. Any suggestions on how to remove this so I can replace the hose?

SOURCE: the brass valve "stem" that the plastic

Although this grills is no longer available, Coleman may still support it. Try contacting their Customer Support Dept 800-835-3278, if you haven't already. From what the Owner's Manual shows, what you're needing is the entire burner valve assembly. As the brass stem is not a separate part.

I hope this helped and thanks for choosing FixYa.

1994 softail springer with harley carburator. fuel fitting on carb that was there had a plastic clip and small line going to hose. This hose broke and I was given a different fitting. This fitting presses...

The original fuel line fitting on the Keihen carb is a pressed in fitting made of brass and plastic. The plastic piece breaks off leaving the brass nipple in the carb. Harley makes a replacement fitting as well as the aftermarket parts suppliers. The Harley replacement is better because it's made completely of brass where the aftermarket replacements are made of brass and plastic like the original. To get the old fitting out, thread it with 1/4 X 20 tap and use a bolt, washer, and a deep well socket as a "puller" to get the old fitting out. To press the new fitting in, lubricate the fitting and the hole in the carb and use a vise to press the fitting in. Be sure to position the fitting correctly so that the fuel hose goes on in the right direction. I'm sorry but I don't have the part number handy. Your local dealer can look up the number easily.

Good Luck

I can use my Karcher K3 jet wash as long as i hold trigger down

Most pressure washers have ball lock type fittings on the hose connections. What happens is the little steel balls get a bit of corrosion and do not lock the male fitting properly with the female coupling. Load up the fitting with some Oil or WD 40. Then connect and disconnect the fitting several times to losen up the balls and springs. Should the spring in the coupling break you will get the exact symptom your describing.

If the OIL / WD 40 does not do the trick then you may have to change out the quick disconnect coupling.

I have a Dewalt dw600 and the drill bit broke off, just the main cutting bit, and I cannot remove the bit- I try to unlock but it won't come off.

DW660 is suppose to be a tool free bit insertion and removal. However a wrench may be necessary. If you have loosened the the collet nut either with the collet grip or a wrench and the bit does not come out. Remove the collet nut completely from the tool. Remove the the collet with the bit in it. With a couple of plyers, one use to hold the broken bit the other to twist the collet. Sometimes when the bit is overtighten the collet locks on to the bit so to speak and the collet wont expand back out thus releasing the bit by doing the above it will expand back out and release the bit. Reinstall the collet and collet nut.

I hope this helps, thanks for using FIXYA. Good luck and have a great weekend. Jeff
