If water is flowing in, you may have a defective valve; if no water flow, that could cause a buzzing sound

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

Ice maker quit

if ice maker is cycleing then it is either water frozen at the tube where water comes in. if it is then shut off refrig. remove icemaker and thaw tube out with a hair dryer. makeing sure not to melt plastic in the back panel of freezer. if it is plastic. if it is not plugged then it is either a bad water valve or the watervalve switch in the icemaker.

Ice maker not working for my KSSS42QKB02 Kitchenaid fridge

SOME THINGS TO LOOK FOR .... on the front of ice maker should be a white cover that can be removed ... if you take a wire and jump out the "t" and "H" terminal just long enough for the gear to start turning then remove the jumper it will run the ice maker through a test cycle... you then can determine if your getting power/water ... if water is frozen in the ice maker and not dumping most likely either the gear motor or heater on ice maker is bad and needs to be replaced... if everything is free turning but you have no water check the fill tube in back and make sure no frozen water in tube obstructing it... if all this is good and no water you have a bad water valve.... good luck

Water keeps overflowing over the ice making coils

Do you mean that it is overflowing the sump tray into the bin? If so there are two things to check. First make sure the unit is level. Second their is a simple water float valve much like an old toilet float that keeps the sump full. Turn the machine off and make sure that the float will stop the water flow 100% when the sump water level is just over the bottom of the water pump impeller. If the float will not stop the water flow either the water pressure is too high or the float valve is bad and has to be replaced. In general water pressure should be between 20-40 psi.

Icemaker not making ice

Hi reach up and feel inside the ice tray where the ice is made. If you feel some ice then the ice maker is bad and should be replaced. If you feel in the tray and it is empty then either the water line is blocked or the valve is bad.

The way to determine which is to pull the unit out and remove the lower panel at the back. Trace the water line for the ice maker to the valve, remove the water line from the valve and blow through it. If you are able to blow through the line the valve is bad, if not able to blow through the line there is a blockage. Trace the blockage in the waterline from the valve up to the ice maker and thaw the ice blockage with a hairdryer.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Mike

My ice maker will not fill with water. The arm is down. The filter was just replaced. There is no ice blockage and water does come out the water fill on the front of the freezer.

Your refrigerator has a Double valve and one side of the valve is for the water dispensor and the other side is for the Ice maker. Your water valve could be bad, on the ice maker side of the valve Part # 2199838

You can cycle your ice maker with an insulated wire. Remove your ice bin and pull the white cover off the ice maker. There are some letter by some holes. Look for T & H on the right bottom of the front.

Do Not play with the wheel or try to force anything, or you will break it.

You will need a insulated wire ( so you don't electricute yourself. ) you are going to try to cycle the ice maker by pushing one side of the wire in the T hole and the other end in the H hole. This should make the wheel turn. If it does, just pull the wire out after you here the click or about 7 sec. The wheel should continue to turn. Keep whatching and listen for the water. takes about 2 min. if you get water then the icemaker is bad and water valve is good.

If you dont get water then the valve is bad.

This is based on most common situations.

No ice

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
