Hello, I have a LaCie D2 525 Super Writemaster. Stopped reading CD, slowly flashing it'sLED. No image on desktop. Eject button doesn't react and paperclip insertion activates eject but tray is stuck.

Possibly wrongly inserted CD. Should be a relatively simple, mechanic problem to solve, but after removing the small back cover further dismantling is a mystery. How do I get the drive out of it's case? Thanks!

Pushing in the paperclip should unlock it, but if still jammed, may have to wreck drive by pulling off front of drive drawer thing. Maybe try putty knife to push cd down some of that's holding it from opening.

Testimonial: "Thanks! But instead of ruining case or the drive itself, I would prefer taking it out of it's case so the mechanics are accessible. I'm sure that should be possible without destroying it."

SOURCE: Drive wont open/eject

try, go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down the list to cd/dvd drives, click on the '+' and right click on your listed drive and select uninstall. restart the notebook and then the drive will be re installed with drivers automatically. it may be a firmware or driver error.

SOURCE: dell xps m1330 dvd drive will not eject cd inside

Im a dell tech, and i hate those cdrom styles, but, that is what the consumer wants, so we make them. Try starting the machine, then press F2 to enter the BIOS. once in the bios, press the eject button. listen for any noises, (an attempt to eject). if you hear a sound, it means the drive should be capable of ejecting the disc, and perhaps the disc has not seated correctly. If the disc will not eject, you must contact Dell. This is from the DELL dcse site: " Optical Drive The XPS M1330 has a slot-loading optical drive instead of a conventional tray-loading module. There is no mechanical eject mechanism for the drive to eject stuck discs. This means you must replace the drive if a disc gets stuck in the drive. After replacing the drive, disassemble the old drive to remove the disc for the customer."

SOURCE: Disc Eject won't work after improperly inserting disc and since removing it.

I have an DZ-MV780 with the same problem. I found that the cover plate around the flash hot shoe only has a single screw. If you remove it and pull up the cover you gain access to the gear and lock mechanism. Hit eject and if necessary press on the white gears you see in front of the zoom switch. It should then cause the door mechanism to unlock and open.

SOURCE: Disc Tray Will Not Eject

Just next to the eject button on the actual recorder there should be a tiny pinhole.  If you use a small paperclip and insert it, then push, you should be able to manually eject the DVD.  Hope this helps!

Firewire connector doesn't match

It sounds like you may have one of the newest MBPs that doesn't have a firewire port. If that is the case, it is still possible to connect firewire peripherals through a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter cable.

Cd stuck on cd drive in Dell

If the Cd drive is not ejecting, try going into My Computer, and right clicking the Drive and selecting "Eject". If that doesn't work, then take a paper clip (or any other piece of wire that small, which does not have a sharp end) and examine your CD/DVD drive. There should be a little paperclip sized hole, this is usually next to the Eject button. Slowly push the paperclip into the hole, until you feel that you have pressed something, and then remove it. The drive should eject. This should work regardless of whether the computer is on or off.
